With all due respect, Ahmeet Bains has more respect than Dodo at the trade table. He has transformed that list and the only glaring hole in their list is the one Luke Delaney currently fills Carlisle will address this. Don't be surprised when Hawks decline interest in Carlisle this week leaving Saints in a better position to play hard ball. hawks used the scenario to strengthen their hand in getting a 1st rounder for Jed Anderson.

No doubt he has but that doesn't mean Bains hasn't lost respect during this encounter and you would be hard pressed to find many in the football world that would say he has handled this situation well. Many commentators that have criticised us endlessly are on our side over this.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Hawks pulled out but i also wouldn't be surprised if they stayed in and found a way to convince him. Little in football surprises me anymore.

Not sure how this deal strengthened your hand to get a good deal for Anderson?

Don't they have two kids that could be bid on that high?

I was under the impression it was likely that if they had picks 7+8 (7 from treloar) they could get away with 7 being live and needing to use next available for academy.

Hence 23,24,25 would work better as it would leave them with one of them after academy bidding where as pick 8 would be absorbed.

Not clear on the details so no standing on facts here, but I thought that's why it could work.

If Hopper goes as the 4th-6th live pick, then GWS can use pick 7 on him. Assuming this happens (e.g. he doesn't go in the top 3 live picks), and Kennedy doesn't go in the top 6 live picks, then pick 8 will be live, meaning that GWS have no incentive to trade it.

If Hopper goes 2 or 3 (or perhaps 4 if Mills slots into the top 3), then this will push pick 8 down a little bit. But it would depend where Kennedy is taken to determine if pick 8 (now slightly lower) would still be a live pick.

So it all comes down to where they are rated, but after a quick look at it, there is a strong chance that pick 8 will remain live. This means that GWS will not want to risk trading it, given the (apparent) strength of the top 10 versus the rest of the draft.

We both have something to compare it to.

Hawthorns offer is valued somewhere around pick 5 isn't it?

Yours is valued around pick 40

Not something to whinge about?
Ok well give you second and third rounders to the value of pick 5 instead

He will go to Saints and earn about $200k more than what Hawks could offer, let's not be silly there are those that will sign for less and then there is Jake.
You would think if he can play in GF in the next year or two and perhaps go to a third club after this deal at Hawks (he'll still be of value at the end of the deal) then he will probably earn more over his whole career.

Without derailing the thread North blinked first when a deal became a reality, considering they have struggled to attract potential players they may have payed overs. Not sure if others were lining up with a pick around pick 15. FWIW it will be a win- win deal.
Back on topic though if Hawks pull out accepting Bains deal will become a reality, they will then on trade your second rounder for Freeman.

Youre reaching for anything arent you

Medals dont pay the bills unless your one of the old timers like hodge etc.

You can live a good life on average coin, you don't need $750,000 a year unless you plan on building a money pit and swim in it... but this isn't a Ducktales cartoon!

I'd rather be known as a team player instead of a money mercenary.

Hmm. Bombers first fair offer was 5 & Billings.
Bit of double standards it seems.
Um, no. Billings was never part of the deal. That was just a dumb SEN rumour that Essendon posters are taking the piss out of.
