Hypothetically, if Carlisle nominates Carlton as his preferred club, what's stopping them just taking him in the PSD? Is there some 'unwritten law' about not screwing another club in this fashion?

Carlisle has promised he will not leave the Bombers empty-handed by walking to Carlton, which holds the first choice in the preseason draft.

Weather it's true or not we shall see.

Normally , but when the club has been using you as a pin cushion and can't/won't give you details , it's fair to say all bets are off ...

For your sake I hope that's true. As an outsider though he looks like a bit of a loose cannon, so it wouldn't be a huge shock if he didn't help you guys out .

And despite all that he re-signed in 2013. He also had a chance to get out last year and decided against it so he couldnt of hated it that much

So he promised to not leave Essendon empty handed?

In that case, max I'd offer is our 2nd round pick (20) and liam jones for Carlisle. Think thats a pretty fair deal considering we may not get to see him play for 2 years..

We are open to trading. But i doubt a top 10 pick though. We aren't in the position to give away a pick that high
Absolutely agree about giving a top 10 away for him. Ideally Geelong would give you thier first round pick for Henderson and you pass that on to us but I doubt the Cats will give you that much for Henderson.
Best we can hope for is a second rounder unless a Richmond or North offer up their first

I think the fact that there is no announcement means he is open to choices. Treloar, Dixon and Henderson show clubs/managers have been sorting deals out prior to the trade period. If Jake really had determination for a club, i'm sure he would have said by now.

Would only pay second round, and not entirely sold on that. Essendon are dreaming if they think they can get a first round pick.

Because your club has such a rich and successful history.

St Kilda are a foundation club, with some of the greatest players to play the game (Lockett, Harvey, Stewart, Baldock), represent it. I'd say we have a pretty rich history.

No rule.

Clubs tend not to as the shoe can be on the other foot in future years.

There's also a fair degree of pressure from city hall to do the right thing.

Baffling that all you gimme gimme Carlisle's want to offer him the world in $$$ terms, yet you feel it is sufficient to offer a pick in the 20's. What planet do you live on? WADA overhanging? Seems strange that this would factor into the calculation considering your club is still reportedly offering $700K regardless.

If he goes to the Saints, the offer will need to include first pick. If it doesn't, he will go elsewhere. Sounds like the Saints don't want that to happen. So yes, provided he doesn't choose Carlton, Essendon will still have considerable bargaining power.

Let me reiterate, your club is reportedly offering $700K per season for this player that would likely place him in the top 3 players at the club, however you want to pay a packet of chips to get him. Yet Essendon are the hard ones to deal with, so thinks the simpleton.

He may be under instruction from a "new" club to play it a certain way publicly, as they may still be playing / may have other trades to consider / may have their own players to sign still.

Nobody really knows.

Rubbish post of 2015
First round draft pick though we would have to swap in second and third rounds.
In no context can you be called a successful club.
One premiership and countless wooden spoons however Essendon's been living in the past and we can't crow about our recent history.
A simple question would your club prefer jake Carlisle or Charlie curnow?
That pretty much answers whether jake is worth it or not.

Robson , Evans , Crameri , Ryder , hell even Albert himself , everyone has a breaking point in this ongoing disaster .
Now it's Carlisle , and who can blame him ...
Fair comment.
I would have only been shitty if he walked to psd.
His manager has stated jake wants a trade that's fair.
Under circumstances cannot ask for more.

Liam Jones struggles to get a game at Carlton what makes you think he'll get games at Essendon.

Wants out + WADA dilute his value significantly. Question marks over attitude.

I never said we were a successful club, just one with a history (while not as successful) as worthy as Carlton. Didn't even bring Essendon into it.

Can you even read?

I still think it will be one of five scenarios
Carlisle to Carlton
Yarran to Richmond.
Richmond first round to Essendon
Or
Carlisle and Essendon third round to st Kilda
St Kilda first round to Essendon
Or
Carlisle to north
North first round to Essendon
Or
Carlisle to hawthorn
Hawthorn first round and young player like Anderson
Or
Carlisle to Carlton
Henderson to Geelong
Geelong first round to Essendon

The st Kilda scenario would be the best
The Geelong involvement next while the other 3 pretty similar.
In this years draft who would you really take in front of Carlisle?
Weitering yes
Schache yes
Francis yes
Mills yes
Hooper yes
For mine Carlisle is the sixth best player in the draft
