Great point. Essendon right now just dont get player welfare
Really
You kept a player who took a naked photo of your captain
You have kept players on who an opposition coach calls a wapist
You ditch Lovett when he is found not guilty
You threw ball to the draft after he captained your club yet criticise Essendon posters who believe the same thing should be done with jc
You ditch a coach after 6 weeks
Watters was given the heave ho real quick you have gone 50 years without a premiership
Won one in your history and won more wooden spoons than anyone else

My point is all clubs have failings
Peptides program was abhor ant but everyone of the prime players from that program have gone. Dr Reid was not a catalyst of the program
Your sanctimonious attitude is ridiculous especially when your club has done little of note right through its history

GWS won't trade 8 for 23 and 25.

Read the points/picks thread for an explanation why.
Perhaps you should read the points and picks thread. You may have a better understanding of what is happening. Gains wants 23 because it would enable 23/24 to go to GWS for pick 8. The fact that it is way overs is immaterial

And people wonder why this trade is where it's currently at.
Do they really? I don't think anyone would be too surprised if this was Essendon's tactic. Most clubs would hold out for the best deal if they had a week to negotiate, they don't owe St Kilda anything. Might as well drive the hardest bargain because Hawthorn is waiting in the wings. Nothing like multiple suitors to improve your leverage.

GWS won't trade pick 8 for 23 and 24. They won't trade pick 8 for 23 and 25.

I'm not talking about the Carlisle deal. I'm just telling you that GWS won't do those deals. The reason they won't, is because there is a good chance that pick 8 will be a live pick.

Part of the problem is Essendon only wanting to talk about 5.

Of our 'tradable' players and picks surely there's say 10 combo's in there somewhere that could work for Essendon.

By being stead fast in 5 and only 5 may ultimately end in what could be construed as a worse deal for them.

You left out the part about multiple players getting wasted on sleeping pills and red bull and also the current player who is know to police for dealing drugs. Lucky for him the the president of their VFL affiliate is also very high up in the police (although recently retired I believe).
My point is that no club is squeaky clean.... So saints fans would want to be careful throwing rocks.

This isn't helping mate.

Hawthorn aren't going to sit there twiddling their thumbs waiting for us. They will probably be looking at other options but if nothing looks like eventuating either deciding to go to the draft or put pressure on us to convince Carlisle to go to them while they do the same.

Carlisle and his manager have sided with the Saints on that ridiculous offer they made, so it's pretty clear it's Saints or PSD imo.

The point is we stuffed up we have paid a massive price but anyone can bring up issues around players and history of a club
It is a cheap no class argument which is easy to retort to

Do you think Hawthorn will give it one last pitch before week's up or is that a completely dead deal?

That's hard to say really and depends on whether they decide to go to the draft with those picks or perhaps try to find another deal somewhere else.

I do believe if they haven't found anything and we are no closer with StKilda they will have 1 last almighty crack.

If it's PSD then wouldn't Bombers cut their losses and upgrade 23 & 25 for Pick 5? I still see him slipping to Saints at PSD

Jake Carlisle, 23 and 25 for
5, 63 and 2016 3rd Round Pick sound fair?

This has probably been discussed but if the compensation from hawthorn is so much more significant than that of the saints and carlisle is such a money hungry bastard why don't essendon just pay the difference in contracts for him to go to the hawks?

Mate why do you think he is in Thailand they told him to get out of the country and keep your phone turned off till the end of the trade period thats why it took 2 days for the Haawks to be able to contact him his management had to contact him by email or through the hotel to get him to a phone. Its over deal with the Saints or the PSD and don't think the Hawks will forget that Dodoro embarrassed and wasted their time

With a week to play out, you'd think that would be mentioned. Not sure we would want to help them so much to get #4.

come on EFC and StKFC. End this farce. Let's just get the deal done and everyone, including Jake, can get on with their lives.

Carlisle + 23 or 25 for pick 5.

Jake Niall wrote a great piece this morning which sums up my thoughts pretty damn well.

"The most important single central fact about a free market is that no exchange takes place unless both parties benefit," wrote free market economist Milton Friedman.

One can only guess what the late Milton Friedman would make of the vexed negotiations between St Kilda and Essendon over Jake Carlisle.

Whatever Friedman would say about Carlisle's value in the marketplace, the economist's line about both parties benefitting is the one that the clubs should heed. In the AFL meat market, the ideal deals are those in which both parties feel slightly dudded.

Let's not forget world hunger either, defo Discos fault as well....

Please explain how we embarrassed or wasted Hawthorns time after Disco stated that they are our number one option and the only club we want to deal with?

Because he doesn't want to go to the hawks. There he would have to do as he was told and wouldn't come in as a star recruit with a designated position to play.

This is what you want to believe. Saints went scrambling to find him and spent a large part of the day talking with him/his management. The Saints shit themselves. Hawthorn will be a very viable option if the Saints don't stop embarrassing themselves like they have with their current offer.

After 1 week, they were the only club that had offered a deal. You can only 'deal' with who is putting forward the offers.
