26 and 30 for Stringer and a fourth rounder is the deal.

The fourth rounder is the commission Essendon get for teaching McCartney how to trade. You're welcome Doggies.

No it was a whack alright and I am staggered that you can't see it. Murphy questioned his work ethic and not in subtle way - 'not yet a fanatic for the daily grind'. Against the context of the coach suggesting it was time for the player and the team to explore other options how could anyone see it as anything else. The sad thing about it for the bulldogs is that they didn't keep it in house, like most other clubs tend to do. Playing it out in public for whatever reason was a classic own goal and is reflected in his market price and where this trade is headed. I am sure if they had their time again the bulldogs wouldn't have played it even close to how they did. Bulldog fans are quite rightly angry at how the trade is shaping up but that anger is sadly misdirected if it aimed at Essendon or Dodoro or Connors.
Honestly, that is the softest thing I've read for some time. Truly if that qualifies as a whack you haven't been in a football environment before.
Secondly, clubs do their due diligence and the football world leaks like a sieve so if you think Stringer (for example) missing physio appointments isn't known by all and sundry (heck, there were comments about it on his Instagram) that is an incredibly naïve position to hold. Implicit in your post is the position that clubs read media reports and that's their major source of information - I can assure that is not the case.

Stringer is the one to blame here, and plenty of what he was getting up to this year hasn't hit the media, certainly not by the Bulldogs who are notoriously quiet in the media (hence many journos going harder against us than most clubs).

Just so we're clear.

Dogs refused to give up a 2nd along with Jake for a first and a 3rd.

But now they're happy to give up 2 2nds, a first round downgrade and a future 3rd for just a future first?
We're getting picks we'll actually use as opposed to picks we won't, and in a stronger draft too.
Seems like a win/win/win for all three parties involved.

So you wouldn't have used 11 or the 3rd?

Ok then :).

A few rumours that the Swans have also muscled in with their pick 14 if West Coast can’t come to the party
We've traded fairly with the Swans for years, have a solid working relationship there too.
They gave us Biggs for a two pick downgrade (37 to 39) and he's a best 22 premiership player.

I've been in plenty of football environments and you are correct. It would be extremely soft within the walls of any football environment. The thing it that it was the external environment, not within the walls. Yeah clubs may or may not have heard whispers or done due diligence but the public utterances removed all doubt. There is no way it failed to negatively affect his trade value, both real and in the perception of the public.

So you wouldn't have used 11 or the 3rd?

Ok then :).
Your first offer valued Stringer at pick 33, and at that stage we were looking for either 2018 picks or Schache.

Stringer is worth more than pick 33. Just because GWS jump at bad deals, we don't have to.

We’ve won a few in our time. Quite a few big ones as well.
A winning trade is one that benefits both parties and sets up a working relationship for future years.

Wait what?

Jake got up to lots that hasn't hit the media- 'lots' can't be too bad. After all, the Doggies still want him back.

"Nah I won't be going back"

Wait what?

So you would've used 11 and the 3rd?
As we've said all along, we were looking at other options once we have the Stringer trade finalized.
We were into Schache, now we've been negotiating with WCE for picks.
