If the Dogs have agreed to take 25+30 why cant they just do the trade and then worry about trying to get a first round pick i don't get it.
save face... they demanded a first so saying they took 2 2nds for stringer in 1 deal and then turning those into a first somehow in a separate trade is worse for them than a complex 3/4 team trade in which out Stringer/in R1 pick happens

Not a partisan snipe, actually a serious question: how the hell does someone make 250 posts a day, and then think "This is fine. Bigfooty is not a problem. I will do this again tomorrow" and then maintain that rate of posting for almost three years...?

Are those stats (25,000 posts in roughly 1,000 days) remotely accurate?

1000 x 250 = 250,000

Please tell me you finished Grade 2 maths.

Its called media management.

They likely want to announce the full deal including pick swaps so they look competent and not cop a media backlash with only half the deal done.

Done plenty of those as well but I was talking about finals.
Fair enough, sometimes what seems to be a 'losing' trade turns out better than expected though.

At the time we thought we got smashed in the Tom Boyd trade, but given it led us to a flag and GWS now have a broken down Griffen and pick 6 (Marchbank) was handed off to Carlton anyway every Bulldogs fan I know is happy with it.

Likewise in hindsight you got two seasons out of Cooney and an ongoing cheerleader at SEN, we took a guy with that pick who never played a game. Swings and roundabouts.

It's more that unless we can turn those picks into something we can use we won't do the deal.

More than a few of us have stated that any deal will take a while because 3rd parties are involved, one way or another.

Yep so unless the Eagles and Dogs pick swap is done quick this will go deep into tomorrow.

Cooney really did love those spongy floors.

I don't think they will take those 2 picks if they can't down grade. I wouldn't be happy to part with 13 or 14 to get 25 & 30. Not sure what the Eagles are thinking.
