I’m hearing that the deal for stringer to the bombers has been agreeded to. Not sure how true this is, but the person who said it has been reliable in the past.

Because the football world would laugh at them. They need to construct some sort of third party deal that at least moves a 1st rounder to save face.

save face... they demanded a first so saying they took 2 2nds for stringer in 1 deal and then turning those into a first somehow in a separate trade is worse for them than a complex 3/4 team trade in which out Stringer/in R1 pick happens

Fair enough, sometimes what seems to be a 'losing' trade turns out better than expected though.

At the time we thought we got smashed in the Tom Boyd trade, but given it led us to a flag and GWS now have a broken down Griffen and pick 6 (Marchbank) was handed off to Carlton anyway every Bulldogs fan I know is happy with it.

Likewise in hindsight you got two seasons out of Cooney and an ongoing cheerleader at SEN, we took a guy with that pick who never played a game. Swings and roundabouts.

It's more that unless we can turn those picks into something we can use we won't do the deal.

I don't think they will take those 2 picks if they can't down grade. I wouldn't be happy to part with 13 or 14 to get 25 & 30. Not sure what the Eagles are thinking.
