Interesting re Dangerfield.
I'm not sure I would consider Carlton a big club these days. I would have thought, of the Vic clubs, that Colllingwood, Essendon, Richmond and Hawthorn are all bigger. In fact there's an argument that Adelaide is bigger.

Never mentioned anything about Carlton but re reading your post I can see the confusion. Be interesting to see where he ends up, wherever his golden throne takes him I hope we get a decent enough pick that will satisfy the Suns for Dixon.

anychance this could be like the polec deal where he suddenly comes good at a new club?
Aish was pretty good last year.

I don't think anyone will be surprised if he has a good 2016. Wherever that may be.

Clearly you didnt do any research on Polecs three years at the Lions. He showed flashes of his potential but was injury riddled the whole three seasons.

I don't think it'll be a case of "suddenly" come good. He's had a good year and a not good year, not unlike many second year players before him and probably many second year players after him. It's just that, unlike many second year players, he hasn't signed a contract extension and hasn't exactly shown any indication that he wants to stay with the club that drafted him so he and his form is examined minutely.

So true. When players are invested in the club you tend to overlook the little mistakes they make to a degree, with Aish it's magnified 10 fold because of the rumblings of him wanting to leave. It's almost like he has become a completely separate entity to the team when watching us play, quite strange. He will be a good player, just won't be for us. If he can help us get Dixon it will be a massive win for us.

Why is Aish even being linked to Victorian clubs isn't he from South Australia? Doesn't make a lot of sense for him to spend two years at the Lions where he has developed relationships with the players and coaches for him to move interstate where he would have to build these relationships again without the support from his family and friends.

You would think he would either move to one of the SA clubs or stay at Brisbane, stranger things have happened though.

See: Mitch Clark scenario.

Aish trade is complicated by lions needed go to retain picks to pay for keays and hip wood without going into deficit next year when Allison looks a good prospect.

With aish teams may not want to part with their first pick , but if they were to receive brisbanes pick 20ish back it may be an option , but bris definitely need that to nab keays and hipwood.

So that could bring things to an impasse. If in a trade a team picks up a 2nd rounder and has two 2nd rounders that could be of benefit to Brisbane maybe more so than in the past.

If keays as expected cops a bid in the teens , and hipwood in the 18-30 region having three 2nd rounders becomes very valuable.

if the ladder order remains the same GCS could be interested in swapping first round pics s part of the Dixon deal, giving them Joshua Schache with Brisbane getting Weitering for down back and Dixon, hipgood as forwards.

Good young player who has had a poor 2nd year at AFL level.

Not sure where he'll end up but I would be happy to see him in navy blue next year.

I would hope that we refrain from entering into a bidding war for his services, but I'd certainly be prepared to part with our 2nd round pick - likely to be early 20s at worst - in exchange for him.

Interestingly the academy bidding changes the value of trades. Example being, Brisbane would be better off receiving for the loss of Aish picks 25 (756 points) and 43 (378 points) rather than pick 15 (1112 points), with the former adding up to 1134 points - more points than the latter. The only variable here is neither Keays or Hipwood are bid on before pick 15 so Brisbane pocket that pick for another player and use later picks for Keays and Hipwood, however that seems unlikely. In the past a team would much prefer pick 15 however not under these circumstances.

I think Brisbane will get an end of first round pick for Leuenberger which we will use on Hipwood and our second and third round picks on Keays so we would trade Aish for a top 15 pick for Dixon

If you move pick 15 on for a player instead of taking it to the draft it changes things for sure. But it's worthless going to the draft unless you believe neither Keays or Hipwood are bid on with a pick higher than 15.

Doing the sums, pick 20 (Leuy compo) and 21 (your 2nd rounder) add up to enough points (about 100 more than you need) to get both Keays and Hipwood IF they were to be bid on with picks 15 and 20. That includes applying the 20% discount.

How much money do you think a club is going to pay a ruckman who struggles to stay on the park and isn't even the first choice ruckman at his club?

What sides do u think will make leunberger an offer?

A) leunberger will not draw a bidding war.

B ) no team will pay him a lot for fear of bris then upping their offer and keeping him. Hence any team that needs a ruck , and thinks leunberger might be their best option doesn't need to pay a big amount of money to lure him. They will be using the lure of playing time.

I think you would be extremely lucky to get a 2nd rounder , but am predicting you get end of 2nd round or 3rd round to be honest.

He's not going to leave for less money then what he's getting at Brisbane 400'000 to 450'000 would be about what he's getting at Brisbane if he gets the same from (Essendon) which I think would be the best fit for him he would get us an end of first round pick compo pick

400-450 sounds more like band 3 compo to me. That's about what Dal Santo is getting paid at North and St Kilda received a second rounder for him. Not that it matters, with only one pick currently separating band 2 and 3 with Brisbane last.

It would be enough to get Hipwood or Keays not sure how they count compo picks Frawley would only be 500'000 and Melbourne got a first round compo pick

"Getting" at Brisbane?

As in recent contract? I don't think teams are bound by what teams have paid them in the past.

would Essendon need to pay that much because Yu would offer him the same contract again?

Also , I'm not sold that a contract of that amount gets you an end of first round pick.

Danyle Pearce I think was somewhere from 500,000+ and chAplin was finitely North of $450,000 and both received 2nd round compo. The competition has since tightened up on compo picks too.
