So to break it down. Pies after Treloar. Tiges into Motlop. Cats into Dangerfield. Dees/Saints into Prestia. Hawks have no cap room, and have a late pick

Hawks unlikely, no cap space, and they'd only have pick 18 anyway

You've said this rubbish twice. Either you are an accountant for the HFC, or you're talking out your coit.

I'm no good with numbers.... But even I'm savvy enough to understand we would have set aside a MASSIVE amount to try and retain Buddy.

What an astute supporter would have realised is that as soon as Franklin decided to give up a chance at premierships Hawthorn started re-negotiating terms and extending contracts for some of our younger and important players (Shiels, Burgoyne, Stratton, Bruest, Roughead, Gunston, Smith, Puopolo, Rioli....)

Also we IMO got McEvoy and front loaded his contract.

I believe we've done the same this year with Frawley...

It's legitimately possible that we have HUGE money to throw at Dangerfield let alone Aish...

If you'd have said we may not be able to facilitate a trade, ok that I'll give but salary cap pressure. Is utter garbage.

I'd say quite confidently that your cap space, Buddy or no Buddy, would be tight, and not anywhere near other clubs least of all Collingwood's, who's in the race for Treloar. Plus you don't have what would be reuired to get him, and you wouldn't be willing to give up what is required. You'll have cap space in a year or two no doubt, you'll also be in about Geelongs position at the beginning of a new rebuild and no doubt the end of an era.

Totally agree we may not have the trade to get it done....

I disagree wholeheartedly in regards to cap space.

I think we'll pull another rabbit this off season. First however we have pressing business.

You won't pull another rabbit. Last season you got Frawley which was the worst kept secret. He ate up even more cap space. You don't have the cap space, you have an ageing list, and you won't trade the good young players you have, this with a poor draft position, you have very little to offer other suitors.

Lol, I'm confident we will... Do you know why?

Experience tells me Wright doesn't make poor decisions.

The rest of the competition is just praying we don't!

HBFlanker you owe me an apology for your rude and ignorant presumption, OP was spot on, and nailed many of the things we were discussing. Here's a break down... I wait for your apology.

and then this...

and my response...

and then...

From the last post you were wrong on three counts. Pies will get Treloar. So you were wrong there. Aish seems to favours a move to Victoria and will be at Carlton next year, would have been Collingwood IMO, but I rightfully claimed that Collingwood's priority will be Treloar who we WILL get.

And I did my research, and posted a very good James Aish trade thread. You were rude, obnoxious and wrong... now I await my spology...

Ill apologise when i see Aish in a Victorian teams Jumper.

I'd like to see a straight swap for a draft pick we could use to get Keays from our academy. Win win situation, Aish goes somewhere he wants to be and we get a local boy from our own academy who has been rated well.
Doesn't exactly justify the time and effort we put into developing James. Trading out pick 7 with two years development for a first year player in the 15 - 25 range at this stage... We are not going to move forward as a club if we keep doing this.

Logically you won't unless someone wants to play in a flag, but still you will go downhill fast with a number of your best players post 30.

Understood but for me the trade off of getting a Queenslander who is rated highly and we would probably never lose to a "go home" factor is worth it if you ask me. Playing the long game here.

I am happy for Aish to come to Carlton, but even though he was a #7 I am not sure that he has shown enough to justify a similar pick from any other club.

Every pick is a lottery and CFC know about first pick depreciation (McLean, Bootsma, Watson, Lucas, hell even Yarran who has shown a lot is unlikely to return his pick #6 if traded).

However if Brisbane want Liam Jones as steak knifes???

I reckon you have a good one in Menzel though!

one thing I picked up from a Greg Swan interview on ABC was a veiled threat about not accepting unders on Aish.

He didn't mention pushing him into the draft but he said something like 'if he goes we'll push to get adequate compensation and if we don't think we are getting that we'll have to think about it' also mentioned something about 'not getting to the club he wants to'

made me think the recent trend of nominating a club might not be something we'll buy into if it doesn't suit us and that the draft isn't necessarily out of the equation. I got the impression it was a Alamo type situation where at some point the club has to make a stand after already losing 5 players for unders.

sorry I can't refind the tweet that linked to the interview. it was on some ABC Grandstand radio show specific about queensland footy.

30 is the new 25? Hodge and Mitchell still playing very well IMO.

They are still playing well, so is Brent Harvey at 36, but the truth is, players usually fall away fast post 30 some players are gone or miles from their best pre 30.

Of the players taken in the superdraft, almost all are winding down, Hodge and Mitchell are probably a couple of exceptions.

Sounds like a bit of a dog to me Greg Swan does. Last year he said that pick 4 could be enough to get Beams, but yet when the shoes on the other foot, he acts like this. Absolute w***er of a bloke with no integrity.

If Brisbane get a pick in the 15-25 range it says just as much about Aish's poor form and development than it does about the 'go home factor' or the desire to leave Brisbane.

If you went to an auction to buy a house; would your first bid be the highest amount you are willing to spend or would you try and buy it as cheaply as possible?

Greg Swan should not even be making comments about it, and nor should Leppa come out and say that someone isn't going anywhere. Club needs to look itself in the mirror and ask long and hard why there is an exodus. They should start first with the coach. Zac O'Brien agrees.

You sure know how to hold a grudge. Beams left get over it. Anything to do with Lions and you stick the boot in. Leppa did nothing wrong other than to say unfounded rumours about players leaving was rubbish. I got no problem with that. You have a go at Lions for not retaining players but Beams Shaw Lulumba all had problems with your current coach?

Derek Hine putting any time limit on the Treloar deal? Has to be done by Friday lunch time or it's off :)
