I really hate Essendon, however, in this instance we really don’t know who is or isn’t guilty.

The guy deserves a chance. He does have something severely lacking in the AFL and that is intellect. It’s a pity he has been tainted with this saga.

Vinnie , we are United in our hatred of Essendon . My hatred was driven by the arrogance of a once ok Essendon supporter and media mafia group who turned into an arrogant and despicable group after the tin arse win in 1993. they turned into football experts and were hostile about everything . Sheedy became even more intolerable ( and still is to this day the Richmond traitor)

But Vinne we know who cheated . They were suspended or fined . Plain and simple .
No excuses . From tbe caotain to the last okayed They cheated , were caught
and still play the victim . All guilty , given a fair go but played tbe blame game . Yep Hird deserves a fair go post the saga ,but can never be forgiven for his part . Ever .

The denial on tbe the recent Foxtel documentary was just insulting. Poor Essendon the victims . Fk me .

Yep whatever it takes .

There's a lot more not mentioned. By blocking the release of these documents from FOI as is the case here no-one knows what is in them.
Who looks at the documents upon the FOI request?

Who looks at the on the review of the decision?

There's people involved such as Allan Hird and Bruce Francis. Not to mention a host of laywers.
Yes but you claimed nobody knows what's in them.

Obviously some people do. I don't know who - I was asking you if you knew the processes involved here.

Obviously SOMEONE collected the information and typed it out. Someone reviewed them on the first FOI. Someone reviewed them on the review of the first FOI decision.

Who?

You think someone who has been away from football for 6 years after leaving under a massive cloud would be a good get?

What does he bring to the table that outweighs all the negative media which follows?
Few threads on Bigfooty don't actually count.

You dont think the media would get involved ?
Sure they would. They'd talk about his redemption story and how good is it to see James back.

They'd whitewash his previous flaws just like they do all others.

E.g. Isn't fantastic to see Cousins get his life back? King Carey is one of the boys etc

You think the AFL would let him take a role at the AFL controlled club without being confident of the narrative?

One of the smartest forwards to ever play the game, personally I'd be confident that he could structure up a forward line whilst teaching Dixon, Marshall and Georgiadis the forward craft far better than most.

Im sold. Port should DEFINITELY chase a disgraced drug cheat who played 15 years ago. He would do wonders.

I think you'd find most coaches played a generation before the group of players they coach.
Hird's Son is in the system so I'm confident that Hird you'd be familiar with modern day coaching trends.
The question is simple, should Hird ever be allowed back into an AFL system? Some might say he can never return, some might say after he spends time away from the game. For mine I think enough time has passed and most definitely has the ability to coach a forward set up.

Do you reckon he has done the compulsory coach courses the AFL brought in after it became obvious that he had no idea how to be a coach ?

Personally I am not sure that's the path James himself would go.

Suspect he's eyeing off Gill's job. Now that's a plot twist. Imagine him being able to access all the documents that were used against him!

I have no idea, I'm unsure if re-entering the AFL is something that Hird is actively pursuing. As the main coach he clearly made some huge mistakes for which the job proved to be above him at that time. Let's not forget that the Essendon Drug Saga tainted many employees within that organisation including Colin Little, Mark Thompson, Simon Goodwin, Steven Dank and 'The Weapon (forgot his name).
If Hird was given a role such as forward coach for which his job description was clear and limited to that role then I think he'd be successful.

Hey while your busy asking questions any chance you wanna answer the below?

I reckon the AFL likes to think it can control the narrative but they didnt end up doing a very good job last time Hird was involved. No?

Maybe this time they wont humiliate themselves. Or maybe Gil will make the same mistake Vlad made in drinking his own bath water.

Didn't they? Hird was the face of the saga, wasn't that their intention last time?

Only after Hird turned on Vlad despite him warning Essendon about the investigations which were happening.

Biting the hand that feeds...
So they failed at first because Hird went rogue and then controlled it after?

Interesting.
