Let's not forget that the Essendon Drug Saga tainted many employees within that organisation including Colin Little, Mark Thompson, Simon Goodwin, Steven Dank and 'The Weapon (forgot his name).

Didn’t know he was involved in essendon’s club sanctioned team wide doping program …

The fish rots from the head .

kudos to Hird , At least He took the blame when it was thought early days that they could get a deal done . But boy did he backpedal .

They dumped him. I feel for him . He seems like a thoroughly good person .

coming from a club who pioneered a injection regime to gain an advantage

Hawks were the leaders in injection supplements
Not that it really matters, as it wasn't banned by ASADA unlike compounding TB4 to get around the drug code, it does pay to read the article, and not just the title B4L!!!!

"Guerra received the treatment, as did St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt. But the player who encouraged Marks that the treatment could revolutionise AFL football came from Essendon. That player, whom the doctor would not name due to practitioner-patient confidentiality, enjoyed such success using Orthokine that he returned from a soft-tissue injury that was originally expected to sideline him for eight to 10 weeks after only five weeks." 😂

No , the traitor Sheedy in his mismanagement of the sajary cap dumped him on Port Power ( est 1996). Shocking man management.

Oh so Dimma is a Port traitor.

Personally I am not sure that's the path James himself would go.

Suspect he's eyeing off Gill's job. Now that's a plot twist. Imagine him being able to access all the documents that were used against him!
It would be a terrible look for the game if he was given Gill's job

Vinnie , we are United in our hatred of Essendon . My hatred was driven by the arrogance of a once ok Essendon supporter and media mafia group who turned into an arrogant and despicable group after the tin arse win in 1993. they turned into football experts and were hostile about everything . Sheedy became even more intolerable ( and still is to this day the Richmond traitor)

But Vinne we know who cheated . They were suspended or fined . Plain and simple .
No excuses . From tbe caotain to the last okayed They cheated , were caught
and still play the victim . All guilty , given a fair go but played tbe blame game . Yep Hird deserves a fair go post the saga ,but can never be forgiven for his part . Ever .

The denial on tbe the recent Foxtel documentary was just insulting. Poor Essendon the victims . Fk me .

Yep whatever it takes .

I feel embarrassed for you.
There are people you can call to help

People like HairyO talking like James is moving his whole life to a different state to take up a senior assistant coaching role.

**** me boy, get a grip. It’s clearly stated he’s doing an advisory role, a casual if not even on going role with a club clearly struggling.

You really need to get a grip. Cousins was a drug cheat when Richmond took him on. Common knowledge Buddy is a drug cheat but gets brushed aside. Hodge ****ed up but has been given redemption. The list could go on and on but hey, the colours are red and black so let’s give them to the vultures.

Seriously

I don't believe that Hird instigated the illegal aspects of the case. I suspect he was a young, naive, inexperienced Coach, who didn't have an eye for detail, and trusted those around him to do their job. I suspect that he was overwhelmed by the magnitude of the Essendon Head Coach's job, and didn't have the experience or skills to "manage" everyone effectively. This allowed rogue operators to do their own thing, without the necessary supervision from Hird.

However, whatever the actions and motives of all those involved, I still maintain that with the possible exception of child abusers, everyone deserves the opportunity to be forgiven. The level of abuse and scorn that Hird still receives far outweighs his "crimes", and if anything just shows how petty, spiteful and vindictive many people are.
Well said. I think there was a fair bit of hubris involved as well with the naivety.

Ambition and idiocy are rarely a good mix.

Just a pure coincidence that Hird knew of the involvement of his old 'nutritional advisor' from his playing days who doubles as a convicted PED pusher, I guess? 🥳

Still amazes me how gullible people can be about Hird's knowledge of what they were they were trying to do, when there's literally texts that have been made public of him responding to Dank about what other clubs are supposedly doing where he's skiting "not as good as us in that area".

Hird to Dank: I hate them more than anyone.

Dank to Hird: Remember everyone is the enemy and everyone has to be bled. That way you don't just take comfort in tearing Hawthorne (sic) apart you take pride in tearing the competition apart.

Dank to Hird: I also know that they are trying everything they can in supplements and recovery modes to win this premiership.

Hird to Dank: But not as good as us in that area !!!!

There's nothing in that text correspondence that proves any knowledge of anything illegal or against the rules.

Hird hates Hawthorn, thats not a surprise given the rivalry between the clubs. Hird believes that Hawthorn are doing everything with supplements and recovery modes to win the Premiership with Hird texting that Essendon are doing it better.

Having or being unable to produce records of what was administered to their players was the negligence for which Essendon was rightfully punished for.

All for second chances, but they usually come after accepting full accountability, which I don't think ever happened. That said, I don't care if he occasionally offers advice or 'expertise' but given the magnitude of what he did (a club-wide doping program that got players suspended for a year) he should never have an official role in AFL football. I know they AFL loves fairytale comebacks but sometimes actions have lasting consequences.
