Geelong Board MVP vote count goes LIVE

Put it in your iPhone. Add it to your Outlook Calendar.

The BigFooty Geelong Board MVP vote count is going LIVE and will commence at 7:00PM on Monday 5 September.

The plan is that votes will be posted round-by-round in five minute intervals (to mirror traditional best and fairest/Brownlow counts) in which case we should be announcing the Most Valuable Player as voted by you before 9:00PM. Before each round of votes we hope to provide either a brief match summary or video highlights.

Win a BFSC Membership!

To add another element, Chief has kindly put up a BFSC membership with a 'nearest the pin' competition we will be running. To enter, please submit your top three prediction as so:

1. A Player (48 votes)
2. B Player (44 votes)
3. C Player (43 votes)

The prize winner will first be decided by the correct MVP winner and nearest number of votes. In the event of a tie on this, it will proceed to the prediction of the runner-up (and again to third-place if need be). If an entry is identical for the top three placegetters, the earliest entry will win a BFSC membership.

Remember that 15 votes are on offer in each of the 22 matches, and that a player can poll a maximum of 5 votes in a game.

By the way, people may not be aware of the new voting system at Geelong. You might want to put something in the OP SJ.
I wasn't aware of that, thanks. But it doesn't affect our voting system.

Chris has spoken about this publicly. It's modelled on the Merrett- Murray medal awarded by the Lions. The match committee look at things like degree of difficulty and how well a player completed his designated role. They also split votes. So last year Rischitelli won with 37.5 votes. Black got 34.5. And Brown 28.5

Think there's also some arrangement where each player has four games not included. Not sure how that is applied but think it is related to the process of resting players and is an attempt to make it fairer as some players will be rested more than others.

The approach in the first para seems to me to be a good merit based way to calculate votes. The approach in the second para seems messy. But it must have got the nod from the management and board who know best.

Thanks for that Ammo Man.

A reminder that our vote count starts tonight at 7PM. It will be a great way to look back over our 19-3 season and refresh our memories of the events of the home and away season before we head to the finals.

Entries for the nearest-the-pin competition close at 7PM.

Sitting on the couch in a suit having a few crownies was thinking of having a red carpet but couldn't find one that fit the house.

This is exciting:D

Jimmy off to a good start
