About mid january I think.
The divergence in return times probably reflects the fact that as he's coming off his second consecutive leg operation, rather than a simple hammy or quad or something, it's hard to predict an exact return date.
I would expect the club won't rush him too if it increases the risk of re-injury. So I suppose that means I won't be surprised if he returns in late april, but I also won't be surprised if he doesn't return until much later in the season either.
As for Pods, I would think given the salary cap, he wouldn't have been included unless he's right on the edge of playing (i.e. in the 25).

Would be disappointing for him to get a few games, especially if he plays well, and then have to wait on the sidelines until mid-season. I guess better than no games though.

I agree, all indications are that he'll play and i'll certainly be happy with whatever the match committee decide.
But I'm sure matchups will play a part in their decision.
Essendon's speed is certainly a factor but the 3 tall backs in Pears, Hooker & Fletcher suggest that there is room matchup wise...
All will be decided on Thursday I suppose...

What's all the crap about Essendons speed effecting Posiadly, he'll be deep forward, and who said they're so super fast, no faster than Geelong.
Pears certainly wouldn't win to many sprint races, in fact they could be a little slow in the back half looking at their defencive lines.
