Jarrad Boumann TO Hawthorn

Serious question - how many games have you seen Boumann play? How many games have you seen Lisle play?

I watched both play at Box Hill this season and I think Boumann has upside which, if Hawthorn can harness, will only be of benefit to the club moving forward.

Brisbane has paid a steep price to secure Lisle (pick 29 and a 3-year deal). Good luck to him - he's secured his immediate future - but he was never worth that to Hawthorn.
Agreed.

Watched them both play numerous times this year, and was quite disappointed in Lisle on a few occasions, while Boumann was impressive.

He needs to add a few kilo's to the frame, but other than that he'll fit in quite nicely.

We've upgraded Lisle to Boumann in my books, and it's a win.

If he's fixed his off-field habits then he could be a good pickup.

Yeah, I think you make some very valid points here Dixie.

Boumann is considered a late developing KPD with speed. We haven't speculated much on him because the coaches have seen A LOT of him. He will put on some more muscle over the summer and I suspect the club will work hard with his development.

Lisle is only worth the 3 year contract because they are desperate for a forward. They aren't looking at him as a KPD. This is what we need. We don't need Lisle as a forward and if we aren't going to play him, it's crazy to keep him. As a club we need to make the tough choices to improve.

You guys are kidding yourself if you think he can play key position in AFL, he is same sort of build as Ryan Hargrave or Grant Birchall, Has some talent and pretty quick but has never been able to match it with strength and body work as he is quite physically weak and easilly pushed out of contests and not the greatest work ethic. Surprised they got rid of Lisle to bring in Boumann.

Ward, Reid, Everitt, Hill just gets better down there does'nt it. Says alot about your club;)

I heard he was often late to training because he was serving soup at the local homeless shelter, what have we got ourselves in for?!?

If by soup you mean copious amounts of alcohol. And by serving you mean consuming. All allegedly of course. He was supposedly a bit of a party boy and a club with a "no ********s policy" wouldn't even look at him.

Relevance to what was said? Ward left for money, Reid and Hill likely to be delisted, and Everitt was traded and is still crap.

Young men drinking, well I never!

I'm sure we kept enough tabs on him at the BHH over the last 12 months to know what we are getting.

That would mean getting rid of about half your list:eek:

Well at that point in time he wasn't even getting a vfl seniors game, so no it didn't help us.

So what we have proved is that the Bulldogs are poor at development and character assessment? Good-o. Surely you have pissed on the parade enough to run along now?

We got rid of Boumann. That's a start.

So you got rid of Boumann around about the same time you bought in Akermanis? Quite vigilant with this "no ****heads" policy, weren't you?

Anyway, I'm sure the club has seen enough of him to make an informed judgement on his character. Wouldn't be the first young bloke to over-indulge a bit (if that is even the case) and then mature, especially in the knowledge that it is likely his last chance. And this time he is at a club with a strong culture that breeds success, not some half-arse glorified suburban club that has made an artform out of failure.:thumbsu:

Yep.

Looks like he's taken the delisting as a wakeup call. Played some great VFL football, and finished 3rd in the Box Hill B&F as a KPD this season.

Bowie has worked hard to get back onto an AFL list, which tells me he's matured.

I only saw him in around five games this year but Boumann was good in all of them. I didn't see him in many one on one contests, but all other aspects of his game were top notch. Great pick up.

Watch the highlights package on the Hawks website, he looks similar in build and holds the ball in one hand like Jarred Brennan.
Not really the big bodied defender everyone was crying out for but definitely is promising as he has the speed and agility to work with.
A summer spent in the Gym will do no harm.

196cm key defenders generally about 5kg heavier than Boumann is listed at. Would probably put on 3-5 kg in the preseason you'd think.

Its going to be hard.......basically to add one pound of muscle you need to have 3500 worth of calories a week over your maintenance (perfect calorie intake where you don't lose or add weight), which equates to 500 calories a day, then you have to take into account how many calories he burns a day, with running and weights its going to be alot,.........basically he's going to have to eat like a pig non stop. He's young too.... judging by his body he looks like he has a fast metabolism. He has to be strict....... its doable though.
