I think he has been told there is a few blokes in front of him and that he will struggle to get a game so he took an easy way out instead of working his butt off to get in the team
Rubbish take.

Got where he did due to working his butt off. Was never top 20 on the list for talent, always top 10 for effort and intensity. ****ing respect blokes like that.

Geez, if Ben Lemon Lennon had half the desire, mongrel and work ethicGeorge did, he be a triple premiership player now. Had more talent in his little toe than George possessed in total.

Thanks George, why don’t you get yourself a shit tatt to celebrate

Bloody hell. Not only do you all hang s**t on him constantly which may have led to this decision but when he retires, you question why he didn't do it sooner so we could have taken someone else.
Now I'm not saying that it's not a valid question but how about, as an outlandish idea, instead of potting the bloke on the way out we are a bit more supportive of a three time premiership player who could have won a Norm Smith if he kicked straight.
The guy has given his all to the RFC and should be treated with the respect he deserves on his way out.

Have a bit of class about yourselves.
WELL SAID

Just speculating but had the hamstring injury, probably had others ahead of him and would've struggled for a game, unlikely to have been offered a new contract, gets paid out for the year, gives another guy an opportunity at the mid season draft and can start on his next chapter 12 months early. A selfless move much like his on field contributions

Despite his inconsistencies always gave maximum effort and pressure and was a great contributor to our successes especially in 2017-2019

Lord Castagna. A great career and a great clubman.

Still....it's poor timing. Now we have a spare spot on the list and unable to fill it until the MSD. Our small forward depth has taken a hit and the VFL side will be much weaker without him too.

Am I the only one not shocked here??

Yes, it's a little weird timing and really should have happened months ago. The coaching department obviously had chats with him about where he stood and that it would be hard for him to make the side..probably unless we had 10+ injuries to our starting 22. (Even then he would be lucky to be gifted games).

Could be many reasons, but also might be that he wants to pursue something after footy. Good on him and thanks for a great 2017!

Unexpected but pleasantly surprised. He had a great career for someone who just could not execute basic football skills. Well done GC you won 3 flags playing for the best team in the world.

gave us great service a selfless premiership champ. Listened to the Dyl and Friends podcast with David Astbury and he spoke about his specifically and the selfless role he played during those flags.
