My favourite part of the trade was how Port got other clubs involved and turned a seemingly boring one sided trade into a full blown gang rape of Norf. Neat tip of the hat to season 2022 where gang raping Norf was a weekly occurrence.

I really doubt it was anything like North's thread.

Off the top of my head you'd find the most vitriol for leaving players on this board in the Jacobs or Chaplin threads. But even then, not close to what is happening on the North board.

This trade has essentially cost us our future first. That's it. Think about that.

We got JHF instead of having puck 8 this year.
We've got Rioli
Our pick 27 is now pick 33.
We traded out next years 2nd and 3rd...but we have......
Next year we have Collingwood's 2nd and Freos 3rd.
If we move up 4 or 5 spots on the ladder and or Collingwood/Freo fall a spot or 2, we haven't lost anything.

So essentially the only thing we have lost is our future first rounder. For JHF, the best player in his draft year and a side of Rioli.

You can’t begrudge them: it’s a coup, and although the odd call that Norf should fold/North are a sh*tstain on the compettion etc lacks a bit of class and seems similar to behaviour being critiqued on our board, I’d be going hard too.

Got exactly what we wanted and didn't have to give up an A grade player like everyone kept telling us we had to.

This is also an extraordinary deal all round, to be able to pull this off with that many moving parts in it is a great effort. Gotta give credit where it is due for the club here.

Going to tune in to trading day tonight on replay to enjoy the tears of Kingy, would tune into 5AA to hear from Rowie but he isn't even worth it.

A lot were desperate for these deals to fall over for us so this trade feels extra sweet.

has anyone ventured on to the North or West Coast boards to see how they're tracking? Not bad deals for them in the end though but their fans were expecting to profit out of a loss but that was never going to happen.

We kept getting told we were the ones being unreasonable but the deals have pretty much gone through in the end for around what most of us expected right from the start, the end result has proven how ridiculous Norf, West Coast and the Crows fans that were riding this with such bizarre interest were being.

For what its worth I think your team has done the right thing. They must have either not wanted to draft Cadman or were prepared to miss out to be able to get the next best 2 players.

I assume one will be Wardlaw and Sheezel probably the other, so its not the end of the world.

No it had nothing to do with wishful thinking.

Stuff gets out from the club, but people are asked to keep details in confidence.

This is why several posters said the deal would get done and wouldn't reveal their sources. They would be stupid to do so, and they would probably never be given info like this again.

The fundamental basis of the deal was always 8 +F1. That came out pretty much the next day after JHF said he wanted to come to Port. Port and North had already started negotiating.

In the end we basically got JHF for 8 + F1 + 43

The F2 and F3 pick swaps are minor changes.

53 and 57 was the premium for getting Rioli and getting WCE to move on pick 2.
