What’s ridiculous for a team that screwed there own list by getting rid of most of there players they get free draft picks. So really this year they could lose jhf but in return get 2 1st rounders potentially a player like bonner griffin logue and Darcy tucker. If I was north I’d take that every day of the week

The news has spread. In today's press Matt Turner and Jon Ralph are openly writing about Riley Bonner as part of the Horne-Francis deal. Not sure if someone on this thread took a wild stab and hit pay dirt or he or she really does have inside info.

Riley Bonner should have some attraction for North as he is 25, has played 82 games and played 17 of those last year when he averaged a touch under 19 disposals per game. I thought he probably had his best season for us.

The press is also writing about Ratugolea. Not sure how we will get deals for Horne-Francis, Rioli, Ratugolea and maybe Evans done without trading away most of next year's draft. Maybe Riley Bonner is not the only Port name on the trade table? Pure speculation of course but given the traffic in ruckmen this year maybe Sam Hayes' name is in the mix?

Good that Matt Turner and Jon Ralph seem to think the Horne-Francis deal is progressing constructively. The general consensus is Horne-Francis will cost the No8 and our future 1st rounder. If Bonner goes into the deal then surely that should get the business done? I would expect to get at least a future third back from North though.
Bonner was reported yesterday as being one of North's two targets along with Bergman. Given the club came out and said Bergman is staying, as well as the fact Riley would have more to gain, he seemed more likely. Sorry I cant remember the reporter that posted it but it was via twitter.

Bryce Gibbs on JHF on SEN right now. A good summary for all those questioning his character

"He's a man of great character"

"He's one of the most competitive players I've seen"

"He sets high expectations"

"His frustration towards his beam mates was him saying this is not acceptable"

"He's still 18, he's still learning"

"Away from the footy field he is very humble, very well mannered and very respectful"

Thanks for that. Looks like Riley Bonner is OK with all parties. Maybe the haggling is about what we get in the back trade? As I posted two firsts and a first 22 player seem a bit overs from us. I reckon we would be angling for a future third as well as JHF.

If we trade out this year's first and next year's first both drafts start to look a bit bare from our perspective. Particularly when we reportedly have other trades to complete in 2022. If we want Rioli and Ratugolea there must be other players involved.

When Man Utd bought Eric Cantona from Leeds for £1,000,000, their chairman was asked: “can we say it’s £1.2m, or the fans will kill us?”

“Say what you like, we’ll go along with it. just send him over”, was the reply.

‘Can we say Dean Gore is Patrick Selwood?’

Where is the 7 news footage of Bonner in an oversized hoodie and shorts being walked around Arden Street by Alastair Clar.... arh, I mean Leigh Adams?

Don't be at all surprised if its 8+future first+bonner + 57 for JHF and a future 3rd.

At this point we need to move some picks into next year and despite paying a premium for it, Norths future 3rd is likely to help get Ratugolea (Geelong won't want current picks).

I think this is spot on (future 3rd back)

The thing is that yes its bare, but relatively speaking does it matter as much as it would normally? The holes we need to fill most are KPDs and rucks, which will take longer to develop, so we need to try to fill these via trades anyway if we want to capitalise on our upcoming window.

The young players we have already look like a high ceiling exceptional group. I'm not sure that its worth more to us to get yet another 18 year old midfielder, over say a bloke like Harrison Petty or similar. And yes I get that we may need draft capital to get this kind of player - but there is also going to have to be a bit of moneyball played to fill these gaps.

They do it a bit differently at Arden Street.

What this is all media driven? Surely not….

Who knows what’s going on.

I think we should just trade for Rankine, you know even though he doesn’t want to be at Port… that’s the thinking re JHF on the West Lakes board, JHF should be honoured to ‘come home’ to West Lakes Thebarton.

Something tells me I picked the exact wrong time to become a die-hard IFK Göteborg fan...

P.S. The beanie ain't mine, it's my Swedish bro-in-law's, he loves that Red Tins sh!t, lol
My best mate(rip) absolutely loved the stuff, so much so that prior to the brewery completely packing up shop the family got in touch and they made a limited run of 30 odd bottles with his face on the logo to hand out to his most loved family and friends at the wake. Sits pride of place in my house.

The North board is an interesting read. Real nasty, personal stuff directed at a teenager whose private life and mental state they know absolutely nothing about. I'd be very disappointed if this board had anywhere near a similar reaction if the equivalent happened at Port.
Lol this place would be just as bad

We have as many unhinged types

I'd really hope not - and if it did then I know it would be called out.

I mean hell you can say "I don't think Ken should be coaching in 2023" and you have a poster calling you out for defamation and quoting transcripts from Boston Legal.

The sack Hinkley thread is an echo chamber of fairly poor comments. I don’t doubt our board would be capable of similar to the north thread if we lost a contracted pick 1 after a year. To be honest I get where they are coming from. They are copping repeated kicks to the balls. It would be shit as a supporter.

Definitely going beyond the norm. It’s ok to be irritated but some of the stuff they have written is pretty ordinary.

They are deranged.

None of them seem to connect their current shit show with their own club’s actions over the past three years. Since booting Brad Scott as coach they’ve finished second last, last, and last. It’s hard to see them not getting a threepeat in ‘23.

They’ve burned two coaches, one abandoned with serious mental health issues, and embarked on a Plan A Only strategy to get Clarkson that has blown up in their face. They have no CEO and their list managers quit and have yet to be replaced.

Players have been dumped, traded, and straight up neglected. You could probably mount a semi-reasonable case that the cull at the end of 2020 was bordering on deliberate tanking for the following season. It worked. They got that #1 pick but couldn’t sway him to stay longer than a year.

Their club is a mess.

Of course a talented young draftee wants out.
He wouldn’t be the only one.

The AFL really should just wind them up, and I'm not even saying that flippantly. They're an absolute disaster. Gets rid of a Melbourne based team and the league can bring in Tasmania and maintain an 18 team competition.

If we lose our F1, is it true that we can't also trade out a F3, or is that negated by the fact we already have a pick 3 of our own already?

If that's the case, we could get Norf to send their F3 direct to Geelong as part of a deal to get Ratugolea to Port, and bypass us to circumvent the AFL rule.

The other thing that should possibly be considered at this point would be some sort of merger with Essendon.

Essendon Kangaroos would solve so many problems.
