News Jason 'McGrath' levels drug-taking accusation at the Lions - Which is categorically debunked

Lets hope the Club deals with him this time.

You'd hope so.

Next step for me is no longer doing business with any business that advertises in the Courier Mail. Not viable for everyone obviously, but I can do it so I will be!

Yes, I am that pissed off.

Of course, also makes you wonder if that airthing at the Family Fun Day was REALLY handing out goodies or a veiled attempt to take out as many Lions supporters as possible.

The AFL won't be investigating because there is no evidence.

So unless Jason McGrath has evidence we can all move along.

I still think Hammo should step down or at the very least move away once again from reporting on the Lions I know I'll probably get condescended response again for thinking that, but flinging mud that doesn't stick just reeks of amateurism on behalf of the Courier Mail and I think the Lions board, Malcolm Holmes should hold the CM accountable for potentially damaging the Lions brand by these claims.

And now that this muck is pretty much over, I disappear off the Lions board again. I have much plotting to do.

Surely it tells us something how quickly the AFL have squashed this story from the CM. That's unusual in this climate to say the least.

I have to say, I found the CM story today genuinely worrying.

Some palpable disappointment on the main board. A lot of disappointed schadenfreuders out there. AFL cover-up apparently.

Vengeful fans, driven on a desire to see pain on clubs they hate. It is scary when a supporters passion for sport or club turns it into hate or use it as an excuse to hate.

That is why I'm worried about football in Australia since this campaign of 'Passion is not a crime'. Passion might not be, but using passion as an excuse to berate other supporters, throw rocks and flares and start fights at football venues immediately removes the sport from the equation and turns it into hooliganism.

Has only happened to me once in Aussie Rules, where a drunk Carlton fan, fresh from taunting Port Adelaide players at Melbourne airport, saw me and my Lions scarf and threatened to kill me if I ever returned to Melbourne.

Hammo gets wayyyy too much airtime on this board. The Courier Mail is a terrible, terrible paper which survives on trashy stories like this because that’s what their demographic buy.

Surely the only way to get rid of the guy or to change the direction of the coverage would be to stop reading and talking about his stories. Does anyone ever actually get any information from the CM about the Lions that they haven’t read already on here? As a Brisbane supporter, living in Sydney, without Foxtel I reckon I’m probably in one of the hardest positions in terms of accessibility to news about my team. And yet I keep up to date without ever going near any News Ltd / Fairfax outlets.

I don’t think it’s in the AFL’s interest to make a big deal about this. They don’t have the one mainstream media outlet in QLD writing positive stuff about the sport and while success is still a few years off for both Lions + Suns they need to do what they can in the meantime to promote the expansion. While these claims are so unsubstantiated it's not worth their while to kick up a fuss, despite the current climate.

Moved into a new place recently. Was without internet over the last few months so missed most of the preseason shenanigans. However some things never change. Hammo being a hack is one of these.

Who else can just imagine Hammo throwing a tanty because his story's been squashed by the AFL?

And in current climate (what with all of Australian Sport under the microscope), it makes sense for the AFL to act swiftly in making sure false information gets nullified. The AFL doesn't need rumours creating a more violitile situation than is already about.

I have 100% faith that our boys are clear. :)
