Jed's contested possession makes him a lock for a future role in the middle.....not sure what his clearance work is like, but if his contested possession is anything to go by then maybe we have our medium term replacement for Sewell.

I would sign Jed for 5 years immediately based on what I saw today.. Reminds me of a young Hodge, fearless, thirst for the contest but well skilled also. If he has a tank he could be our best midfielder in 3-4 years time.

Honestly not sure he did enough to keep his spot when Lewis and Poppy come back. Goes in hard but made a few errors.

Jed was wonderful yesterday, yes he made some errors early but the good far outweighed the bad. We missed Poppy yesterday too and we are a better side with him in. That's not to say Jed goes out, and due to Shiels' injury it makes it somewhat easier to bring Poppy back in without taking Jed out of the side. The kid is going to be an absolute gun.

It seems to me it's going to come down to hill or jed.. I rate Jed he is gonna be a star but he lacks afl match fitness. Play him against Sydney for sure, but is that going to be enough to select him for the finals. IMO, Jed's toughness would suit a team like Geelong, but against a team like Sydney hill gets the nod. Remember how hill ran with jetta last time we played? We needed hill's run in the grand final. Personally I didn't like Ellis being picked for grand final. Honestly I never like Ellis bring picked- too injury prone and can't run all day.

We really need to consider Simpkin as the sub...but thats a whole new can of worms.

Good problem to have, I think the hawks put themselves in the best possible position. The rest is upto the gods.

Carn the hawks make us proud.

Love to see Jed play against the Swans. If he does not make it into the finals team then it will still be a big tick for him, given the interrupted season he has had. He will be star for Hawks in years to come.

Jed was great but to suggest he is ahead of Puopolo and taken his spot is ridiculous. Puopolo is a certain inclusion, has had a great year and does this sort of stuff on a regular basis that no other player in our team can do on a regular basis throughout a match

This is against North Melbourne in Round 5. My favourite highlight of the year




I hope Jed can keep his spot but not at the expense of Puopolo, it's probably Hill he is up against.

He's got good pace, and consistent pace, but to think he's anything other than acceptable AFL speed is viewing him through a one-eyed supporters eye
His aggression and attack on both ball and opponent is what makes him stand out, not pace!

Jed played his first senior game in about 14 weeks, maybe longer, soon not too fussed that he didn't deliver the perfect game. His timing was off, as you'd expect, where he would either rush the disposal or take too long.

The things that don't rely on timing, just sheer effort and grit, he nailed.

11 contested possessions out of 16, as well as a couple of goal assists says to me we can wear his errors in order to fast track him. He is a gun.
