Weren’t the Cats a bit miffed at the time we poached Reeves as it pushed back their transition plan of Cook moving on? I’m happy to give Reeves his next 5 years, just hope it’s under a different president.

I can't say I truly know the man except the missives in the inbox, they are always kinda placating and non interesting so have no idea if he's a boy wonder or boy dunder. Without doubt Jeff has been the directing voice and just changing him out will make a massive difference.
Let's hope someone great puts their hand up for the job.....(calling chris langford, chris langford, we could really use your staunch and honorable hfc self around the joint)

Oh man, the bitching on here, if you are not happy with Kennett's performance, put your hand up to join the board, there is time between now and the AGM to put forward your own vision for the club, nothing is stopping you from applying, whether you get in or not is up to how well your vision is received by other members. BTW, it is a voluntary position.

Melbourne is Hawthorn and Hawthorn is Melbourne

🤦🏼‍♂️

One of the much identified threads analysing why Melbourne finally won a premiership was unity of Club and unity of purpose.

Kennett cannot guarantee this. Kennett is a divide and conquer politician. He has already threatened Hawthorn members online because of their opposition to some of the decisions he and his Board have already decided.

While Kennett is President a unified Hawthorn will not be possible.

We do not need any politician, former or current, of ANY POLITICAL PERSUASION, to be President of the HFC. We cannot expect any Govt to provide funds for Dingley ($20mil is apparently available) while the HFC President constantly bashes the incumbent Govt for political reasons. It is just not going to happen and the incumbent HFC President cannot claim he is acting in the best interests of the Club by continuing to behave this way.

Right, so members should only really have a say if they’re willing to join the board. Good one.

Such a shame someone like Richard Loveridge or Langford are not an option on the flipside hopefully Nick Holland can forge forward and get support

This is outstanding logic. So if we had issues with Hawthorn’s deplorable forward structure the past few seasons we can only complain if we are willing to put our hands up for the draft? If we had issues with list management decisions we can only complain if we send in our CV for the job? I take it you’ve never once in your life complained about any politician’s performance? Well if so I hope that you’ve run as a candidate in every election against any politician you’ve complained about - otherwise your complaints were clearly invalid.

We are fully entitled to be dismayed at the absolute lack of vision and growth our club is stuck with at present. If you’re happy with other clubs surpassing us in membership numbers and on field performance then good for you, I for one am sick of the stagnation. Being that I’ve got zero experience in sports management I dare say my candidacy will be a little shit - but it’s not wrong for me to want a better candidate to stand up to lead this club.

How many accounts do you have Jeff?

Nothing improves if you just moan about it.

We all want the same thing, a strong and successful club, it comes from hard work and dedicated people, not complaints from the back room.

Knowing the club motto I soon found this

Ever heard the term “holding those in charge to account”?

Based on that McEvoy should be removed from the club. Come out and complained about the transition that the club put in place. He should of just got on with it.

Did you actually read Ned Ryerson post before finding your "gotcha" moment?

This is a thread on an internet forum dedicated to our club president. If I was whinging about his performance on the comments section for a soup recipe that might be a bit silly - but being that I’m not doing that and being that I have no alternative candidate to get behind at present if a poster asks me to list my grievances about Kennett as if to say he’s doing nothing wrong, then I’m going to have at it.

Oh and thank you for reminding me of the club motto. Being that it was from a club finals campaign that was 3 years ago, and that was the last time we made finals it hardly demonstrates why we should not be expecting more from the club hierarchy.

Again, I’m a member with zero credentials to run for club president. The only power I wield is to vote for a better alternative should one arise. Me running for President would be a waste of club resources to conduct the ballot because there isn’t a chance in hell I’d win. If I personally could influence a great Hawthorn person who was able to get the job done I would do that - again none of my mates are in that position. Apologies for my lack of connections - I’ll try to do better for you in future.

Jeff rusted-ons parade in this thread and insult those who want better and through out glib lines about listing what Jeff has done wrong will get my time and response. I won’t apologise for wanting better from and for my club.

In my experience, nothing improves if you don’t moan about it. That’s how people who are in a position to make changes know they have support.

Maybe we are coming at this from the wrong direction

it’s worked for tigers, dogs and Dees

maybe it’s time for a woman to put her hand up

I'd love for a suitably qualified woman to put their hand up and run the club, but I think we might be overstating the impact of presidents to on field performances.

Also on the Dogs, wasn't Peter Gordon still president for their flag?

it was tongue in cheek
Just bored with the commentary in here.

would be interested to know if other club supporters are as divided as we are in here. For a “powerhouse” club, it sure is disappointing that we don’t appear to have anyone willing to put their hand up.

Maybe the question needs to be asked “why is that?”

Hawthorn president would be a massive job at the moment, and Jeff isn't exactly coming across as "open to challenge".

Any incumbent would probably have a public battle with Jeff initially, then they'd take on the responsibility of a club at the start of a massive on field change, a massive infrastructure project and the ongoing ramifications of COVID on the competition all for no income. It's a labour of love now more than ever.

This is why I wish Huddo was interested. Has both the footy and corporate experience plus the name recognition needed. I dare say if he put his hand up Kennett wouldn’t even fight the ballot.

I don’t think Kennett would fight it if any of Hudson, Dunstall, Langford, Loveridge put their hand up.

Lol I just caught up on the last two weeks of Jeff tweets
Malcolm Turnbull now also on his shit list, telling Setka how to run the CFMEU, still pretending NSW aren't under restrictions

It's like his Twitter is also paid for by Murdoch
