The club, and especially Jeff, need to be careful how they speak on Tassie. We are just guests in Tassie, and as guests we should publicly back their claims for a team, or shut up. If we have self-interest that is opposed to the views of the state then we should express them in private. There has been too much talk from us in recent years about relocation/survival of other teams.

Personally I would like to see Tassie get a team, but Australia doesn't have close to enough elite talent for more than 18 teams.

It would be a real shame if Jeff kept talking..... like today, for just one example:

Our commitment to finding money for the Dingley centre and staying in the positive each year I would say would have us very nervous with a deal that nets us 4-5 mill a year...

If Jeff throwing out that line helps us lock away another 3-4 year deal while the AFL continue to fumble and bumble over the idea of perhaps having a stand alone team down there one day then so be it.

Jeff plays the game better than anyone.

Let's be honest the franchise that is HFC has been softening up its fanbase to accept relocation to Tasmania for some time now. From removing any sense of home/identity to the incredibly corporatised way it approaches everything. Even missing the boat on AFLW because it couldn't see a dollar in it and the concept of building a brand/identity instead of simply making money was a foreign concept. Never mind the standards slipping, imagine retaining a coach that has eight career losses against Essendon. EIGHT! Devil will be in the detail of the move. If the Hawks don't have an MCG Grand Final-grade clause about games in Melbourne, then the team will be lost to Victoria within 2-3 years.

Don't think I've said a bad word about Jeff the President, but this is the straw that has broken the back of the proverbial!
Comments like this & I don't give a toss on what others see as spin doctoring etc are cancerous.
If HFC did relocate would lose a huge % of members & thus would be like a start up club almost.

If Hawks relocate other Melbourne clubs will probably find thousands of members overnight and plenty will stop following the HFC. What we went through during the merger saga during the 90’s ...... that’s when I actually became a paid up member.
