He doesn’t. He’s 81 and outside the industry. Colin Carter is the Geelong man who has legitimate power as a former commissioner for 15 years. He’s conspicuously quiet too.

Of course it’s a goal, but it’s a futile one against all but the interstate teams because of finals series tickets and the commissions stance on home state finals. Unless the AFL completely overhaul their ticketing structure no amount of bleating will change things and why would they when they have suckers shelling out $1500 a pop?

Gil doesn’t need to say anything other than relaying the commissions decision.

This.

100% correct.
Frank Costa has no pull whatsoever. Colin Carter has enourmous power.
However he’s also pragmatic about it and understands the bigger picture.
He also knows what’s best for the fans, stadium contracts and TV rights.
I believe if & when only one final falls in Melbourne on any given weekend it can only be played at the MCG.
Unfortunately the media ignore that point as it doesn’t suit the outrage.

He played on Reid who you would imagine was playing as a forward. Howe and Moore often fly together.
Oh ok, the photo showed like Howe was spoiling Moore, hence my query

Isn't this a training thread? Maybe create a Frank Costa thread..

Re; geelong home ground advantage ->

firstly i think its absolutely mental that an elite comp like AFL allows its teams to play on grounds that are vastly different shapes and sizes. the game is played differently in geelong to every other ground used in the comp, and as such is a massive advantage to the team. if i had to guesstimate the source of the advantage that geelong derive from playing in geelong (in % terms), i would say its about 75% ground shape, and 25% home support

having said that (and dealing with the reality of the situation), i may be in the minority, but i think Geelong should be able to play all 11 of their home games at their crappy home ground if they so choose. it is their home ground.

I wish we could play all our home games at our home ground. We get no advantage playing sides at Marvel or what ever the place is called these days. It can also be a disadvantage when we have to play home to the Roos, Bulldogs, Saints, etc. The comp is a joke

Went to the training tonight, very chilly but a good night. Some key things to take was that Darcy got through and looked very good on the track, Jordy was definitely BOG for me and looked very dynamic and explosive, something to be excited for in the finals! Bit of a concern is there was no Grundy on the track, not sure what’s going on there.

Wearing different coloured tops so they were clearly on opposing teams for the match sim. Either one of them was playing forward at some stage, or one of them snuck forward during play.

Grundy was rested according to the article by Ryan.

He looked sore at the end of last game and then had that eye issue at training.
