Surely has to be Melbourne if happens this year. Melbourne could let Frawley go to GWS via FA. They would then get lets say pick 5 compensation. Then trade 4 + 5 for Cameron.

So the Dees would lose 4 + Frawley for Cameron which is a big win.

GWS would get Frawley + 4 +5 for Cameron which is very good for them, could then try and trade any 3 of their top 5 draft picks for top players.
I've read the whole thread and that is probably the best all around result that anyone has suggested, up there with the Fyfe for Cameron one. You might actually be able to get a bit of change if they ended up essentially getting all of Frawley and picks 4 and 5 for him. Perhaps even a Jaksch, or their 2nd rounder.

Our first pick (likely to be pick 3 or so), plus Jack Steven was another suggestion that I think would have merit if no better offers came along.

All the Essendon suggestions involving Carlisle (who was almost as promising down back last year as Cameron was up forward- with both showing much less this year) could have merit, but with the whole ASADA thing hanging over their heads, it's highly unlikely Cameron would want to risk going to a club that could be wiped out for two years and devastated for a decade to come and it's equally unlikely that GWS would want to risk getting one or two on board from Essendon, who might not be eligible to play for them for the next two years.

Saints will most likely win the spoon next year, so we have pick 1 in the pre season draft.

We will also have a host of high profile players retiring thus freeing up a massive amount of cap space.

That means we'll have the most free cap space in victoria and the first pick in the psd.

I really hope we bend over GWS, armo and a second rounder or we get him for free.

I'll be the first to come in and say you're dreaming (it's a lovely dream though!). Unless he explicitly wants to come to us for some reason and simply won't entertain going to any other club, GWS could just trade him this year to any other club (who would all make a better offer than Armo and our 2nd rounder), if they were scared of losing him for nothing at the end of next year.

That trade simply won't happen.

Why would Frawley go to GWS? He can get the same money at Melbourne or any other Melbourne based club, if he leaves it will be for a club challenging for a flag, he won't leave us for a basket case club with no direction.

If he wants to move for money then he'll go to the higest bidder.
I he wants instant success he'll go to a club like Hawthorn.
If he wants to go to a developing Melbourne based club then he might consider us or the Bulldogs.

I think he should go to Port

The reason he might wan to come to us is we could offer him a bigger contract than any other Victorian club. Money talks. And if he does want to come home and earn massive dollars I see no reason why we should try to be fair to gws.

Frawley won't go to GWS after playing at a battling Dees his whole career, and with some light at the end of the tunnel for Melbourne
Nathan Brown from Collingwood has shoulders made of glass which will never improve, and really is just a battler in a team with a good midfield - imagine how poor he'd look with GWS midfield non existant pressure!
Carlisle has infraction notices hanging over him - who would seriously look at trading for a Bombers player with so much uncertainty hanging over them, rightly or wrongly?

He's still contracted to GWS for another 18 months!

As I said earlier in the thread, I would drive Andrew Swallow and Ryan Bastinac to the airport myself in return for J.Cameron.

And that's our captain and a good established midfielder with another 8-10 years in him.

Maybe its just me and Cameron, but FFS, the kid is unbelievable.

You are still a player/top pick short.

Swallow's coming off a serious injury.
Bastinac, by the admission of your own fans, has a LONG way to go and is incredibly inconsistent.

Will end up at Collingwood.

How - I have no idea.

But if you'd told me 12 months ago that Lance Franklin would be on $9m for 9 years at Sydney, I'd have laughed at you.

They will get it done.

bombersno1 You talk as if Cameron doesn't want to go to Saints or Dogs or clubs like these because they aren't in premiership contention or on a rung below? Cameron will put the dogs into the top 8 by himself..

Then why isn't he doing that for GWS?

60 - 80 goals a year alone, isn't going guarantee anything to anyone.

Terrific player but he's not a free hit. You'll gain big time on one end but lose somewhere else. Net gain is what's important.

People are forgetting a club like Port. They have no problem acquiring and retaining kids from country Victoria. Ollie Wines springs to mind.

Port are about to go on a rampage, they pull good crowds and would be able to offer him some handy cash.

Plus, Cameron's a bit of a country lad. Might enjoy the calm waters of Henley Beach rather than the hustle and bustle of St. Kilda beach.

Adelaide wouldn't be much further than Melbourne from Dartmoor anyway

We wont be much higher than you (so will have similar picks), will have ample salary cap room and will actually offer players to GWS. Your approach will not work.

As we've seen with Judd, it'll take a good deal to get Cameron (if he even wants to leave) - but do you want to pay the price that's required ?

That's what he'd go for on the open market, I can't think of a young key forward with his potential being on the trade block ever really.

potential isn't worth $1m a year. If Cameron can goto another club for $1m a season for 5 years then he should do that, he could do his ACL tomorrow and his agility is gone.

the Trent Croad deal would be relatively similar.

When its key forward potential, absolutely. The bloke is a gun already anyway, wasn't he AA last year?

The same goes for anyone that is on $1m per season though.

I imagine clubs will put together offers like $6mil for 6 years, hell, maybe even $8mil for 8, which, by the end of that contract (when clubs salary caps will be much higher) could actually be good value, just like Brisbane's 10 year deal for Alistair Lynch was (when what he was getting paid in the last couple of years of that deal was a lot less than he would have been getting had he been getting new contracts every few years).

I think hes shown that he has more than just potential. 60 odd goals last year in a side that got whacked most weeks is pretty reasonable claims for a million dollar contract. He is the only forward at present who even looks like he could be 100 goal a year forward in a decent team. Could well play another 10 -12 years too so the up side is reasonably good.
$1 mill a season is probably what its going to take to get him across the line and you would be mad not to consider it if you can afford to splash out the cash

Gibbs might be your ticket as well, Gibbs + (pick 5-7) could be around the top mark.

That's actually quite a deal. I'm torn as to whether I would actually do it.

Our midfield is lacking class and Gibbs is one of our few midfielders who provides class and can actually have a big influence on games. Has had some big games for us this year getting the ball going our way from midfield. The other thing is Gibbs is vital to us for leadership. Most of our leadership group won't be around much longer (Judd, Waite, Simpson, Carrazzo) so Murphy, Gibbs and Thomas will take over the reins leadership wise.

I don't know anything about this years draftees, but if there is a KPF that is likely to be available at around pick 5-7 with big wraps on him, I might be inclined to take the punt on him being our young KPF and keep Gibbs instead of trading them for Cameron.
