Burned pick 10 on Freeman as well.

He also got Grundy in the late first round, Pendles for pick 5, Langdon and Marsh for pick 60-70... + frost and Marley as rookies and sidebum for cheap too!

List managing and drafting is a bloody hard job. I'd back Hine in any day of the week over almost any other recruiter in league other than maybe Hawks (who've also made many mistakes...Like Garlett).

Some players like Freeman get injured and jaded and leave. That's not Hines fault. Meanwhile Dane Swan has barely been injured in his 10 years at the club.

So seedsman played the first half of the yr but was dropped for the 2nd, we play decent the first half but awful the 2nd, meh coincidence aye

P. S. For everyone complaining... Little perspective;

How much would you pay for Geelong or Melbourne's best vfl player? Geelong just let Brisbane have 2 players for a FUTURE third round pick. I personally would not wanna pay much more than pick 45 or 50. Expecting a pick in the 20's for Kennedy is a bit silly considering he has only shown glimpses and has still not solidified a spot in the 2 years on our list.
I personally like Kennedy, but I am not 100% sure he has the persona to make it at afl level.
I can't believe north gave up a first rounder for Anderson. That is a clear example of ridiculously over paying.

Seed was great depth towards the end of the year. But his brain farting and lack of defensive game made him inferior to Maynard, Williams, Varcoe, Crisp.
Additionally I would much rather get games in to Scharenberg and Langdon - who also have far better defensive ability.

Seed, at his best, is an all Australian type player. At his worst he is a quick but clumsy footballer who actually has far poorer disposal than we all seem to think. The amount of tomes he kicked it out on the full... He was basically a younger, slightly better to watch version of Harry O.

Howe could do a Varcoe and turn in to a solid contributor, or he could spud it up in the twos. It's a risk. Get over it! Risks such as these are ones which turn players like Gibson (Hawks) and Kennedy (Swans) in to great players. Add Leigh brown to that list!

I was probably destined to follow Collingwood, given it was a privilege of birth passed on by at least 3 generations of supporters. But it was the high flying Billy Picken that clinched my love of the pies. I don't mind paying overs for an excitement machine. My advice for young fathers and mothers is to get your son into a Howe jumper.
2 screamers and 2 goals in a winning semi and Howe will be deified

And how good was Billy Picken?! Mum messed-up and stitched Ray Shaw's '23' on my jumper instead of Picken's '25'. Redeemed herself a few years later with a new jumper and '35'.

Now I have had a few beers...

We got Howe yeah cool but we got bent over in that deal

In all honesty, the fact that we were so willing to give up pick 32 in this deal tells me we're AWFULLY confident about getting Aish and Treloar. So I see it as a really good thing. I also like Howe a lot too.

I'd just like to remind everybody that our forward line unravelled in the second half of the year when Cloke and Elliot lost form. That's when we lost the ability to kick winning scores. Howe addresses the issue of having someone else who can take contested marks in the forward line. We still need a crumber in the forward line because apart from Swan, who's not a particular accurate kick, we don't have anyone else. Treloar and Aish (if we manage to get him) will hopefully address that issue.

Agree on all except one thing; Swan is actually a fantastic kick for goal...

Im not overly sold on Howe, but Bucks has a clear plan for him, and he is a better option than both Seedsman and Kennedy. He should walk straight into our 22, and i wasnt sold on either of those guys having a particularly bright future with is.

As for trade value, i reckon:
Howe is worth a high 2nd rounder (20-25ish)
Seed would be worth a low 2nd rounder
And BK would be a low 2nd-high 3rd.

If we were to get Howe and a 2nd - then that wouldve been a huge win.
Looking at the above trade - i think Howe and 50 wouldve been about right.

Howe and 68?
I think we've overpaid a bit... But it really depends on what we do with the 68. Do we on sell it to GWS (to get their 2nd rounder) or to Brisbane? If it can be used to get either trade over the line then thats a win.

And remember, we were getting the best player out of this deal. We were the team with the most invested in getting it done... That mightve meant we were willing to accept unders - if it plays out like either scenario above.

Sometimes it's better to cut your losses before they are too exposed and move on. Howe looks exciting and though he has his detractors, on form he has more to offer than Kennedy (no more short people!) and Seedsman. I am sorry to lose Seedsman because he is the kind of player you want to succeed because he seems to offer something that we lack. Good luck to him at his new club. I won't boo either him or Kennedy, but I sure hope neither of them ever reaches the heights of Howe.

C'mon bro.. low blow at Ben Ken.

Don't know whether this is a win or not but for those complaining about picks for Kennedy and Seedsman, has it crossed your mind that the Club didn't want to make it hard for them to go to another club?

I reckon at least in the case of Kennedy this seems right. Really it comes down to a 3rd round pick vs a 4th round pick, why not do the right thing by him and get him to the club of his choosing especially since we told him his chances would be limited.

Kennedy was unfortunate in a few ways injuries limited his ability to put together a preseason, which meant he was more suited to the poor sub rule where he never got much of a chance to show his talents. We also unexpectedly replaced Beams with 3 midfielders who have bigger bodies, which are more suited to the way we're trying to play.

If there's a common theme to our playing lists since I've been following the Pies, is there has been a lack of match winners. I'm not saying that we havent had them.... just saying we've been beaten in grand finals by moments of brilliance.... this bloke might do it for us in the future

Welcome. May his highlights sooth our despair after yet another honorable loss. Nah. Just Kidding Will be fun to watch. Finally we can bomb it fwds with a chance of success

True story ...

Early 1977 Sherbert was my favourite band.

My parents bought me a concert ticket for my (seventh) birthday to see this poxy flash-in-the-pan goody-two-shoes band ...

#ohtheshame

I think it may have been their revenge for me choosing to be a Collingwood supporter :D

These days I've been known to hum along to a bit of Abba on the radio. #ohtheshame

Bullshit trade.
Seedsman should have got us a 1st round pick. We will be embarrassed and appalled by this trade in a couple of years.
Howe takes great marks but has been pretty ordinary the past couple of seasons. Hopefully he improves but at the moment Jessie White is the superior player.

Anyone else find it concerning that it's not on our Twitter or webpage?
Think we may have gone early folks.

It seems the media folks were too busy recording Howe's first interview at the club.
