Well so far the Demons are wiping egg off face.
All of a sudden opposition don't need to plan for Hogan and instead concentrate on McDonald and a kid in Weiderman who all of a sudden is asking big $$ to re-sign.
At Freo the other KP forwards are having best ever years.
At least the Demon hype has died off.
Not handling the tougher draw this season at all well!

We are playing awful, Got nothing to do with the tougher draw we haven't even played some of the real good teams in Coll WCE GWS and Rich yet.
I don’t get the Melbourne shouldn’t have traded Hogan talk. The bloke has been through hell and whilst we supported him greatly, it would have been terribly harsh in him to reject a trade request. If he didn’t want back to WA he’d still be a demon.
On the trade value, we got well unders. It can be judged in the wellness of time though as we haven’t got May for yet. Also you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think his off field antics were a factor in his trade value.

Yeah not sure Melbourne's plight has anything to do with Hogan (and IMO he wouldn't be making a significant difference). Also, not sure you can judge this 5 games into, what both teams would be hoping, will be at least 5+ years of service from the respective players.

Did Hogan request a trade?
According to the club he expressed a desire to return home.
That doesnt mean he wanted to go at this time. I recall him saying one day he would consider it.
The question is did they tap him on the shoulder and give him a knudge out the door?

No doubt Melbourne didn’t push him on it and try and keep him. But I don’t doubt he asked the club to explore the trade last year.
AFAIK Hogan had a meeting with Bell and expressed a great desire to come to Fremantle, at least that is what Bell was saying last year.

Last year Melbourne was awesome. They are putrid so far this season.

True. But he isnt the Only KPF on Freos list.
Hell, He wasnt the only KPF freo got in a trade in 2018. A fully fit Rory Lobb is dangerous, regardless if Hogan is in the team or not.

May has turned 28 and done nothing for us, in fact he is injured again. Wouldn't say it has been a good result for us. Can see why we went for it at the time but he's running out of time to pay us back for the investment.
You did get Lobb. But that had. Nothing to do with Hogan deal. Hogan has been through so much for such a young man. Would certainly have impacted him mentally. I also think going back to being around his mates might not have been the best for him.
we really need to see May getting fit and staying on the park. But I can see why we didn’t stand in his way and why Freo drove a hard bargain. He certainly came with issues.

The more this goes on the more it looks like a terrible trade for Freo.
They were so desperate to land a decent key forward they just ignored all the warning signs.
