Owies kicked more goals than any West Coast player Waterman in 2024. He’s not that bad.Mate, Owies is a C tier small forward who will be 28 next year.
I'm not going to pander to this kind of delusional optimism. What need did he so desperately fill that it was worth breaking up pick 3, likewise Baker, who is at least closer to semi serviceable?
This isn't hate, they are simply lower end performers on not great teams. Moving to an even more hopeless squad (debatable between WC and Richmond). Putting 3 on the open market might actually have netted something of value.
Worse, they knocked back 14 + F2 because you wanted an F3 back. Why did West Coast not take Hawthorn’s F1 and F2 for Barrass before doing this deal. Then on trade Haw F1 to Rich for Baker. That way they get to keep pick 3. Am I missing something here or is this too simplistic.
It is likely tomorrow WC will end up withWorse, they knocked back 14 + F2 because you wanted an F3 back.
They’re here because they refused to budge on F3.
If they can land Bo Allen at 12 (14), I think they won't mind. His the best WA prospect and a safe one.
That's still bad.Owies kicked more goals than any West Coast player Waterman in 2024. He’s not that bad.
eagles have pick 12 and 73. They need to nail pick 12. using pick 72 to nail a decent player is a bonusMy take on this:
Carlton - Has essentially given up a F1 to move into the top 3 of a strong draft. I think it's a good move but it's a decent price and clearly the Blues need to nail this pick. Not at all worried about losing Owies.
Richmond - It'll hurt them to see a great servant of the footy club playing elsewhere, but they gain a good pick to help kick start the rebuild.
West Coast - Baker and Owies will both be good for them over the next few years. It's not a great return for a top 3 pick, but it's not a complete disaster.
There has been a reason why the eagles didint Have one top 10 pick between 2014 and 2021. The eagles finished 9th in 2014. That was originally pick 10, but that was pushed back a spot or 2 due to a the james frawley compo pick and a father son pick.I think this is exactly the rub
Owies and Baker are best 22 but not transformational
A quality pick 3 can make a genuine difference
To think Eagles have had these years at the bottom and only had 1 top 10 draft pick is eye brow raising
It could be worse. It could of been just Liam Baker for pick 3.dumb as dogshite trade, wce have well and truly lost it, lets look at who they've brought in.
graham- a slow as treacle hack like the others who clung onto the dusty/rance/cotch show and snagged a couple flags
baker- midget with no set position whose biggest attributes are "trying hard" and "leadership"
owies- another midget who runs out the back while curnow and mckay take the heat
If folks are only going to go by total stats, Baker is always going to suffer because of his versatility. Not mediocre but a versatile player who can play forward, back and midfield and has some of the cleanest hands in the comp. He was also a tough midget in the best team in the league.
Won the award for most courageous player in the league in 2022, voted on by his peers. Pretty prestigious award IMO.
