Had a set shot in the last qtr for a must kick goal to get back into the game. Missed it.

He's great when he's flat out at the ball with nothing to think about but once his brain clicks in he's stuffed.
He's kicked quite a few important goals for us from set shots already. Yes he missed it, but I would say the xG for that goal wouldn't have been very high anyway given the distance.

Wardlaw gone past him and has played 30 games less
On the basis of one 30 disposal game and throwing away a 9 goal lead? compare the stats, JHF is ahead on almost every metric and he only had his first full pre-season. Wardlaw is going to be a very good player but lets not get overboard.

JHF carried our midfield this year with Rozee injured and out of form, he had plenty of matches where he won us the game. It's him and Butters that been consistent this season, without these 2 we are bottom 10 really.

CD and AFL ratings have Wardlaw ranked higher this season.

It’s weighted because of his age, however they are statistically quite similar in terms of their disposal stats, clearances etc, JHF has hit the scoreboard more, Wardlaw with the much bigger defensive metrics.

Wardlaw does it in about 10% less game time also.

So? we have Rozee, Butters and Wines in the midfield, JHF plays in the same midfield as them to average 6 odd clearances per game. Last year JHF finished just outside top 20 in Brownlow votes. Lets see where Wardlaw finishes this year? to say he has gone past JHF based on one average game from JHF and one 30 disposal game is nothing but ludicrous. Sure he might have a great future, but that's not the point.

Brownlow is the measure now is it? Might be difficult in a team which finishes last.

It’s not based on 1 game, clearly. He had a 10 clearance game just last week.

And just for clarity, JHF has only ever had 1 x 30 disposal game also, he did it in game 45 vs game 19.

Wardlaw will be a great footballer but he doesn't have The Aura™ sorry to all North fans. Wardlaw should try growing out a sick blonde mop, pulling up his socks and kicking some highlight reel pack bursting goals. Hope your football team does better soon, you got some good fans and all that, also you got rid of pokies which is cool. Let's be all be friends in this thread, except for Dan, who should be studied by the world's dumbest psychiatrists for our amusement.

A lot of back and forth from North and Port fans regarding this and probably fair enough.
They are both going to be very good but if I had to choose one I would go Wardlaw, and comfortably.

I stated on the North board prior to the Collingwood game that I would love Wardlaw on our team and after the game, I would double down on that.

JHF to Port is great for both teams.

Port are glad they have him and North should be happy to see the back of him, as they have someone special.

Time to move on from this now and North should see JHF as just another player and stop dwelling on it.

I think everyone is comfortable with how it has ended up.

However the comparison between the two will always happen, North received Wardlaw because JHF left.

It's natural. I don't think it's a bad thing and doesn't necessarily mean anyone is having a go as long as it's respectful.

It's not a bad exercise anyway, both young center square mids, high impact per possession, highly explosive midfielders, good overhead, can kick goals.

It's a pretty natural comparison anyway.

I think this is dragging on or out due to us not seeing JHF and Port in Melbourne so we could personally wish him all the best.

The AFL though has other ideas, and for some reason refuses to fixture a North V Port game in Melbourne. March 2021 was the last time we met here. They way it's going I feel until JHF retires North will still have a presence in Tassie with one game per year and yep against Port.

I would also like to think this thread is somewhat tongue in cheek.

It's a good indicator for mids as mids get most votes. AFL points aren't a good measure either.

As i told you, JHF has gun mids around him to share clearances and disposals with, Wardlaw doesn't. We have mids who gets 30 plus and 5+ clearances every week.

Also JHF's disposals are quality. I will take his 25 disposals ahead of Sheezels 35 any day of the week.

Wardlaw has a midfielder who averages more clearances and contested possessions than both Butters and Rozee next to him.

Sheezel averages similar numbers to both of them as well since moving up the ground.

Considering Sheezel is #1 in the AFL for goal assists since moving up the ground 5 weeks ago and broke the underage score involvement record in a way that will probably never be broken, I’ll take him with ball in hand I think.

Sheezel that’s top 5 for goal assists in the comp over the last 5 weeks?

Have a lie down

Vast majority of his possessions are uncontested. Sure you can have him, i will take JHF any day of the week.
