And that would have been a simple strike. Oh boy.Its Marijuana View attachment 745262
I'm with you mate. I would hope to expect he will get six months at worst. Isn't deliberately avoiding a ban, the same as tampering (even as a joke)? So i'll be hoping for the same punishment that Lachie Whitfield got.I know it's written and by the book to suspend him for a prolonged amount of time, but of it is a joke gone horribly wrong surely a little bit of common sense prevails?
Yes what he did is four years as written and by the book, but if it was not malicious or intended to cover something more sinister up, then banning him for that long is just exercising a power trip imo.
It's difficult to speculate with so many conflicting reports as to what happened. What are the other options then?
Did Willie have something concealed on his body in case ASADA came to training? There's not a lot of options here.
If what people are saying is true then his position will become untenable esp given the Eagles history.
We don't know the full facts yet and any AFL supporter should hope he is innocent but...... your post is one of pure delusion.I met Willie Rioli at the WC 2018 club champs awards night. As you can imagine, I was reluctantly escorting my girlfriend who is an Eagles member. I have to say, you would struggle to meet a more pleasant, humble and gracious human being as Willie. I wish him the best with what is happening.
Why do I feel like ASADA are at fault here. The urine sample process is very invasive and the ASADA chaperone does not leave them during the process, takes the sample bottle off the player, caps it and submits it for testing.
If it’s a substance other than urine which has been submitted, it was either done with full knowledge of the ASADA official or someone else had tampered with the sample.
I dread to think a star player and fine young man misses a finals series only to be exonerated later on.
That he tainted his sample in front of the tester.
the West Coast Eagles are a business, not a charity, if they can't see any reason to keep him on list they won't.We stuck by Murray Newman when he was in prison, we won't be that callous with Rioli IMO
You would think a pro sportsman who has had the drugs thing hammered into them for a few years would have an idea of how long different drugs stay in the system so Id say yes he would have known that.Would he know that? Maybe he does......Maybe he doesn't.
And some 'vegan' illicit drugs stay longer in the system is my understanding.
Wait and see the exact details but the Newman one was not drug related. We stuck by Murray Newman when he was in prison, we won't be that callous with Rioli IMO
Nope, it would be tampering because he put powerade in the jar. It's difficult to speculate with so many conflicting reports as to what happened.
What you have described is less like tampering with a sample, and more like outright refusing to provide a sample.
Correct, they will support him much like Ben Cousins.the West Coast Eagles are a business, not a charity, if they can't see any reason to keep him on list they won't.
that doesn't mean they won't help him as he goes.
We don't know it was a joke but to laugh in the face of drug tester will not go down well with the governing bodies (if that is the case)
Using PEDs in sport is way worse considering the context it's a sports club.We stuck by Murray Newman when he was in prison, we won't be that callous with Rioli IMO
It would have come up in all his other tests if he was using weight loss drugs or diereticsunfortunately this has crossed my mind a few times.
I really hope I've just become a cynical old fart
Yeah im not sure if there are judges to rule on such things and give leniency etcI agree. But if it's a joke gone wrong he won't get 4 years. More like 6 months including finals.
Fingers crossed. It's the best case scenario.
Don Pyke: My resignation will be the biggest news in AFL today
Willie Rioli: Hold my urine sample
Yeah he always seems a bit shy or scared. That's a best case scenario so fingers crossed. Extremely dumb but the amount of 50s he gives away shows he's not the brightest spark.
I think most of us, deep down, suspect it's a worst case scenario though. I so hope it's not.
You should return to your own board, I think you are falling into the troll category.Using PEDs in sport is way worse considering the context it's a sports club.
If he's guilty of it, he's cheating and he's let the Club and the AFL down.
I'm assuming that there will be a legal process now? This is going to drag out if thats the case. Hope someone is looking after Willie because its not going away anytime soon.
