- joint afl/asada investigation to find out what he hell happened
- goes to an afl tribunal to hear the case
- asada have a right to appeal if they aren't content with the afl's decision

Not sure ASADA will just go: "yeah alright you just screwed up - 6 months". I hope thats the case, but honestly I would be pretty annoyed if that how it payed out for any other teams player. It would feel really light handed.

Dude's in a fragile state, I'm completely fine with the club wrapping him in cotton wool and keep him away from the media.

Its all speculation but at the moment his crime is sample tampering not use of a recreational drug. This has to be treated seriously.

A sample: Gatorade
A second sample: Urine

So hopefully we will find out the truth.

If that second sample is clean, I expect Willie to be able to play at some stage next season.
If that sample has illicit drugs and it's not a third strike then I'd expect a 12 month ban (not for marijuana, but for cheating the test)
If that sample has a PED reading then I'd expect them make an example and give him 4 years.


The positive is that he gave a second sample. Leaves the door ajar for him making a joke of it.

One thing I don't understand is riolis demeanour about this. If he was caught tampering 3 weeks ago, he would have been pretty devastated mentally for a good while. But instead he is only emotional about it after the media announcement.

That's exactly what I said. If he was caught in the act surely he knew he was in big trouble...and the fact they didn't suspend him then is weird, I don't find the reasoning about needing more proof that convincing.

The problem here is even if he is clean or the drugs are illicit drugs . ASADA or WADA could ban him for tampering if they have the evidence to do so.

Nope, it would be tampering because he put powerade in the jar.

Seems incredible to me that if you are asked for a urine sample and you provide a sample of something which is clearly not urine, the tester says "good enough for me", and it then takes 3 weeks for a provisional suspension to be handed down.

What happens if you refuse to provide anything at all?

Media reports - so it's potentially incorrect.

Best case scenario is the second sample is clean or tests positive for weed. QC can then ask for leniency and change the case from "drug cheat" to "naive player who tried to cheat the system but is not a drug cheat".
