Injury Joel Corey - knee cartilage tear

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

he doesnt know how long he will be out for which isnt a good sign. (would think by that it could be few more than reported) but far too early for him to tell.

As someone who recently had this done himself , my surgeon explained that depending age, condition of the knee (arthritis) , ones general health etc all contribute to healing time but best estimate is 2-5 weeks recovery. Worse case if an infection happens or if the arthroscopic operation has complication , it may be up to 3 months.

For me , and I m certainly not receiving the treatment( intensive physio) that Joel would get , my knee still is a bit swollen 4 weeks post surgery , basically pain free but a bit restricted in movement. But then I dont have to run and kick a footy with it

As to what this does to him long term , it probably depends how big the tear was in the minisus.

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

i know basketball is a different game, but chris paul opted for the torn part of his meniscus to be removed as opposed to repair through surgery on the 4th Feb as the recovery time is shorter. he was slated for a return in 4-6 weeks.

i hope he is back as soon as possible, but dont be surprised if this drags past round 1 and further.

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

If that is true, I'm sure he'd be impressed with you posting a private conversation on a public forum. :thumbsu:

...Particularly given the club line is 4 weeks.

balmey told you that otto was 1 more week etc etc

if corey is not playinf week 4 or 5 i will drag this back out

balmey is pretty easy going, we have a chat quite often

as for gazza, i may have details of what gc have put on the invisible table

again i will revisit this once the deal is announced

Lets just hope that 4 or 5 weeks is what it is but Im guessing it will be a few weeks more. but really each case is different and only time will tell. what ever happens we sure will miss him out there

Are you liam pickering?

I find it hard to believe that your privy to details of the biggest contract in Australian rules football ever, yet no other journalist in Australia has this knowledge...

hutchy has a few clues, but you need to remember week 3-4 will sell more papers than the off season

pickering, his assistant, his secretary, pickerings boss, gazza, lauren, lauren's mummy, gazz senior all have a clue

there have been indepth discussion with the gfc, and they are clear on the contract

however i will keep gazz out of this thread

i believe that they will not take any risks with joel, and hold him back to ensure he has a full recovery

it will also mean there is more game time for the kids, so it will be a win win, kelly will get more time in the guts, hunt plays down back with wojo

...Apparently Balmey is serving a community service order. Who knew?

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

Don't say that. TMA will get very upset.

It's pretty obvious that the cats will just give him more time than is needed.
You'd have to guess that he'd have 5 weeks off and then 5 weeks of conditioning the knee before they'd even bother giving him a run.

Or something like that anyway.

There's just no need to rush.

so, then really, a round 5-6 return is most likely.

Wow....so once the detail is public knowledge, you're gonna fill us in on the detail!!??? What a legend...

You'd think so. Pure guess
I don't think we'll miss him too much.

Definitely need him when the going gets tough later on though

Pretty sure every journo nowadays just get their info off here or google, which usually redirects to here...

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

He's had a simliar problem in the past, and it kept him out for a month.

He'll be back by round 2 or 3 at the latest for mine, unless we decide to keep him in cotton wool for a little bit extra and give some of the younger blokes a taste.

Re: Joel Corey Knee Injury

ottens 4-6 weeks away

egan will be back for the grand final

ffs i swear they said jason snell will be back for the finals

so corey's probably gone for a while
