Joel Macdonald hasnt enter the national draft

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of posts in various threads have disappeared overnight?????

shame..

Jesse Smith has gone under the radar a little. North rated him as a future superstar, and didnt want to let him go. Despite his injury concerns this year he may be worth more than Ball or McDonald and a couple of years younger

AND.. i think we should get smith too, but has entered the ND and should get through to hawks

It still doesn't make sense to me that we haven't asked him to train with us. On the Herald Sun website it says J.M is very pleased to come to Melbourne If he has the opportunity....that's refreshing for once.

The thing about JM is that he is a known quantity. He's a solid 187cm defender who played 22 games this year. Also it is hard to tell what sort of itinerary interstate players have in place with moving and time off etc.

The reason we invited Thorp to train with us is because he is still pretty much an unknown quantity. Yes, we know that he is a tall KPF with an upside but we need to do full due dilligence to see where he is at. We quite simply have to go with the club on this.

Some of these comments about Thorp over MacDonald are missing the point. What if the club put Thorp through his paces and quite simply weren't impressed enough? MacDonald is easily the more valuable commodity from a PSD pov. If the club wants both then Thorp in the ND is the logical option as he is more likely to fall to 50.

Well yeah he was from Vic originaly, but I have never heard that Nick Riewoldt wants to return to Tassie, despite the fact he is Tasmanian , not Qld!

Didn't Bailey coach Mt Gravatt around 99 or something? If we did end up with J Mac, that would make 4 people who have been a part of Mt Gravatt: Bailey, J Mac, Rohan Bail, Brad Miller.

Hey yeah, that's an interesting set of connections - can anyone confirm whether DB was there originally....

Yes... http://www.afl.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=50195

Bailey played 53 games for the Bombers between 1986 and 1992 and coached Mr Gravatt in Queensland before returning to Essendon in a development role in 2000, which brought a premiership to Windy Hill.

So i assume that means 1999 and prior, which does not coincide with any players unless Miller was playing seniors at a young age.

Yes picking up X.Clarke and Staker and letting go Joely Mac makes you wonder.

Im pretty sure he was wanting to return to Victoria and North Melbourne were very keen on him but figured they wouldnt try in trade week because they could get him for free in the PSD.

Also this could have been a decision made by the lions due to salary cap constraints, with Fevola arriving maybe someone on a decent wage had to be let go.

Yeh I beleive he asked to be traded and no deal got done so maybe Voss let him go as he didnt want to be there - salary cap restrictions after Fev is a good thought too.

Not too confident on Baileys connections at Mt Gravvat though - the last 2 it netted us was Miller and Bail..
