Freo should withdraw their interest. Clark is a "nice to have" not a "must have".
Picks 6, 8, 19 and 22 is a bloody good draft hand. Take it to the bank Mr Bell.
Just think about what Fremantle could get bundling 19 and 22 together.
Nah you lot can have him.Just keep him Geelong
I like this idea. Why don't we just pay a club to keep someone when it's too iffy? Makes no sense at all - perfect for BigFooty forums, he he.Nah you lot can have him.
surePerhaps you're right with respect to the way Geelong managed their squad and whether their results would have been different, but that is a different issue to this mentality some are floating that a player who couldn't break consistently into the 22 of a side that finished 3rd on the ladder after playing in last year's GF is automatically not rated.
All best 22's are not equal and the fact Geelong have finished top four the last two years unfortunately suggests theirs is better than most and therefore harder to break into. If Clark was at Gold Coast, Adelaide or North he'd probably be a 50 game player already.
Lobb to GWS? If you guys get a better pick than 19 we'll take that one instead.
You have kicked 5 goals total against us since 2018 and have handed out free development games like a GP hands out lollipops to little kids. This idea that Clark is somehow a walk up start to our best 22 is both presumptious and ludicrous. If he ends up in purple, this year or next, he'll need to prove himself beyond question on the track for that to happen. If he's good enough, and earns his spot, he'll play. We're not recruiting in Tim Kelly here.
He deserves to be called a prick if he said 22 would get it done and went back on his word.
And Zac Dawson could of been a generational defender winning flags at hawks saints and dockers too!You have kicked 5 goals total against us since 2018 and have handed out free development games like a GP hands out lollipops to little kids.
Clark could be on the podium for your best player . If he “proves himself” does he get the Buddy Franklin contract?

Wells is a pr**k.
Can't imagine Freo or Clark and his management are too happy with Geelong. I hope Freo don't come off offering 22 and if no deal gets done, I hope Jordy does a Cam McCarthy and threatens to sit out a year.
Wait until they get 13 from GWS and we snatch that one instead. They should just be thankful we don't do what we did to WCE and take ALL their draft picks. What a man STPer18
Elite specimen
If a deal has been dealt in verbal form, "yes we will do 22 etc and then they won't come to the party." and who knows if this has happened or not...
But, if that is the case they will end up losing a lot, not with this trade, but once you have a reputation for that sort of stuff other clubs take notice and the karma bus will hit them on the way back around.

I don't think it matters. If you make a verbal agreement (if this has happened) and then reneg... it has nothing to do with contract, uncontracted or any other factor.Oh noes. Which is the club trying to poach a contracted player again?
The assumption that he's somehow automatically best 22 for us is absurd to me. Injured, dropped and on the outer at Cats but somehow would automatically be in our best 22? Simply absurd. Even more absurd if we end up over-taking Cats on the ladder next year or the year after. He’ll slot straight into your 22 and be one of your better players. Get it done.
Is it about being dumb, or is it about not wanting to trade him in the first place?I don’t think that breaks the deal.
Geelong will take 22 unless they send something back with 19.
Geelong aren’t dumb, 22 is a good pick for Clark
The cats have drawn a line in the sand with literally one other player and given everyone else up for peanuts. Shouldn't tarnish the reputation too muchIf a deal has been dealt in verbal form, "yes we will do 22 etc and then they won't come to the party." and who knows if this has happened or not...

Why would you offer a long-term contract to a player not best 22? He'll play every game next year at Kardinia of not at optusThe assumption that he's somehow automatically best 22 for us is absurd to me. First thing I would say is there's more than 22 contracted players at every club, yeah? So not all of them are going to be best 22. Second thing is, fair to point out the 4-yr off as evidence to suggest there's serious and signifcant interest, but every player still has to earn his spot. They still have to impress the coaches on the track, as a general rule of thumb. Simple as that. It's massively presumptious to assume any player are 'walk ins' for best 22 (unless they're a star A-grader) just because they've been offered a contract. 'Walk ins' are reserved for high level A graders. Not unproven fringe players. Why would you offer a long-term contract to a player not best 22?
