Desperate to keep him just not desperate to play him.
And?

How many clubs only value 22 of its players? If you do then chances are you’re one of the shit sides.

Not all best 22s are created equal, and Freo’s will be far easier for him to break into.

Id say you show value by playing them. How many games does he play at Geelong next year?

If the goal is to convince him to stay I would think 15 plus a couple of Subs. If not then he will walk for FAR less than the 22 offerred.

If he eventually stays (which is about a 1% chance of now happening), he'd play 15 games at least next year. Apparently, we are going to be playing our youth far more than we have until now.

Freo need to hold firm and not offer more than 22. But knowing Peter Bell he will roll over and pony up 19.
It's already been announced by Bell in recent days that we'll be going to the draft with 19. It's not on the table for Geelong or Clark.

It's really just a question if Freo will stump up for a F3 with 22 or just pass altogether. The ball's in Freo's court ATM, from my understanding. I think Freo's holding on to their final decision until a few other trades play out. They may yet decide to use 22 in another trade if Bell's getting busy with bigger fish.

Don't think we'll know what's happening with Clark until the final hour of trade period.

Geelong have apparently banned him from playing in the backline. They have recruited veterans to play on the wing instead of him. Geelong can claim they want to keep Clark all they want, but their treatment of him says otherwise.
Freo should start to step back their offer, Geelong want him gone.
Spot on.

They clearly are. Then I'd say that Selwood and Dangerfield will be managed through the year - perhaps playing only 15 games - similarly Smith. Reckon Rohan might get less games now.

Smith is a workhorse. Maybe they rest him on a WA or QLD trip - assuming games happen in Victoria.

Has been a handy pick up using as a winger took little time to adjust to the defensive nature of the Cats but then came good, he and Duncan will be nice to see in full flight

Agreed
30-40 is probably closer to current value I reckon.

I still can’t work out whether he truly wants to leave or is just pumping up his tyres for a better contract negotiation with Cats next year .?

I guess the fact that he still has a year to go and Freo need outside run with footy nous and skills ( we have plenty of runners but they are still raw) means more likely the former.

Only because he is contracted that he is valued that highly (least by Geelong)

Can't blame them for trying to hold for the best available deal, eventually I think they will settle for pick 22, which is still a terrific result for the Cats.

How many reserves games did Tucky and Dipper each play?
