So much posturing by supporters. Love it.

I’d imagine a deal would be close to done otherwise comments by media wouldn’t be made.

Worth around 20. Clubs will find a way to get it to around that price. Might mean 27 and other shuffles. Might mean wait until end of trade period to see what currency clubs have.

All this flopping your knob out comments like ‘you can wait until next year then’ over someone who’s been on the outer is laughable.

That would be like Freo taking a stance on Crowden.

He’s not best 22. In part because he’s not good enough, but also because he doesn’t have his pension card yet.

You had me for the first 90% thinking this guys onto it respect.

Then you dropped to the classic pension card and thought you were a dick.
Maybe in the future make the good point, then start another comment so I can love and be angry at different comments please xx

Couldn’t help myself!
Generally comments like mine come from a place of respect for a club.

As opposed to offering multi year contracts to 30+ year olds that can’t run anymore
It was good banter but you then you went for the real desperate obvious one.

Whose kicked 5 goals against those Geelong 30 year olds over the last two seasons……Answer - The entire Fremantle football club. We’ve actually played more finals than youve scored goals against this hack team. Given your so cool, hip and young I can’t work out why 37 year old Mundy is still your best player. Shame you don’t have 10 of him. 😎

Not exactly a feather in your cap to claim bragging rights over a side not in the finals.

That’s like me giving it to my 4 year old son when I beat him in our 10m dashes back to the car.
oh you are right but maybe 30 year olds have a bit to offer

Again, no doubt.
I can’t fault what Geelong have done. They pushed all their chips in for a flag. They may get it next year.
It’s all or none approach and you’re one of a handful of clubs that could do that.
Is a cliff coming? Perhaps, but who cares. Every club faces some sort of cliff at some point.

I do think Cats cliff is spectacularly large. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Damaged goods who cant get a game?

More like the coach is crazy and refuses to play, support or develop anyone under 21yo.
You mean guys like Parfitt, Miers & Henry over recent years have shown themselves to be locks in the 22 before the age of 21

We better not forgot the coaches favourite in Ratugolea who's barely seen any VFL football since making his senior debut at age 19. Then this year it was Holmes who worked his way into the 22 by seasons end

For some reason there's this notion that we don't back in younger guys which just isn't true - the clubs shown itself more than happy to give the new guys a chance, but it's then up to the player to grab that opportunity. Those that make the most of it keep their spots, while others may find themselves back in the VFL and asked to work on various aspects of their game

If only we had access to every single junior player in a 7M person city through an academy. You don’t need to respond to jibes by Sydney fans on developing talent.

Apart from speed, there is not a single attribute that makes him a worthy AFL standard player.

His kicking is also very dodgy given most of them are uncontested in the back half...

If Geelong gets anything even remotely close to pick 25 that's a huge win for them.

Posted this take in the Cerra thread, and thought it might be relevant here too.

(All picks subject of course to F/S and Academy moves)

Carlton
- Receive: Adam Cerra (from Freo), #35 (from Geel)
- Lose: #6 (to Freo), #25 (to Geel)

Freo
- Receive: #6 (from Carlton), Jordan Clark (from Geel)
- Lose: Cerra, #27 (to Geel)

Geelong
- Receive: #25 (from Carlton) and #27 (from Freo)
- Lose: Clark (to Freo), #35 (to Carl)

Carlton make out like bandits and Freo screwed. 35 goes to Freo in this deal

The valuation of players is starting to get out of control by Clubs.
Clark here for example...obviously not rated to be a regular in the team and obviously not rated enough to be played in his preferred position yet he is somehow still “highly rated” by the club and want premium compo return?

Makes no sense to me.

Value set by the club apparently.

Courtesy Herald Sun:

Geelong wants a draft pick somewhere in between Fremantle’s first and second-round selections to release contracted speedster Jordan Clark back home to Western Australia.
Currently, Fremantle has picks 8 and 27 but the Cats are unlikely to accept pick 27 in return for a player originally recruited with pick 15 in 2018.
It means the Dockers, who look set to receive pick 6 from Carlton for Adam Cerra, will have to shuffle some of their choices to satisfy the Cats with either a late first-round or early second-round draft choice for Clark.
The 21-year-old playmaker has indicated he wants to accept an offer from the Dockers, but has also been told the Cats will keep the 32-gamer next season if a deal cannot be struck with Fremantle.
News Corp can reveal first-choice ruckman Rhys Stanley has signed a two-year contract extension and speedy goalkicker Gary Rohan has agreed to a one-year deal to play on.
But back-up ruckman Darcy Fort, who is contracted for next season, could be on the move as he weighs up some interest from Brisbane.

New chief executive Steve Hocking, footy boss Simon Lloyd and senior coach Chris Scott will look to make at least three assistant coaching appointments while Stephen Wells and Andrew Mackie will head up the trade and list decisions in the post-season.

Talks are ongoing with the Dockers, with Geelong adamant that Clark’s trade value is worth somewhere in between picks 8 and 27.

The Dockers have scope to shuffle choices, with pick 6 also in the mix from the Blues.

Brisbane has picks 14 and 18, could potentially get involved in a swap with Fremantle, while Hawthorn (picks 5, 21 and 24) and Richmond (7, 15 and 26) also have scope to negotiate.

I think there's a bit more to it than that. If the line coach that was keeping him out is gone then is it the same scenario next year? Have a look how easily the cats were pinned in the backline after Stewart went down. A new backline coach would be very likely to be reassessing the whole defensive system, and when he does I'd be extremely surprised if Clark isn't in that backline.
