Actually I’ve only heard the opposite. Every single media person believes a fair and reasonable deal has been offered. For once the media isn’t portraying us as the bad guy…..actually feels kinda weird
Was more talking about here on BF.

Turning down a first rounder for a guy who has left your club with no contract is posturing and I'm 99% certain that Sydney will accept it if Adelaide hold firm, even it it takes till 1 minute to go on Wednesday.

North would have as much or more capspace then anyone else in the league at the moment. The PSD doesnt get used for players like this (and in a general) for a reason. If whoever is drafted at 6 this year is better than 7-8 years of Dawson AND whoever is drafted at 14 I'll be absolutely stunned
Doubt that very much
no you said north would have more cap space and i doubt that very much have the youngest list last year and even younger next year dont think its even close

This one is heading to the PSD. Crows will likely offer a heavily front loaded contract. Basically next year he could be a million dollar player next year. Crows have cap space and will likely do what the Blues did to Suns a couple years back.

That depends if you can sell Dawson on PSD he is one taking gamble but could make more money himself going that route so probably not a hard sell. Crows also have trust he accepts unders on next deal could go chasing next big offer again after front loaded deal expires as doubt he would risk a long term contract going into PSD.

If the Horne trade happened and there was this much bad blood I am almost certain the Swan would do everything they could to incentivise North to take him in PSD.

you can’t come out and state you will pay “fair value” trade away all your value and then expect that is good faith.

And don’t come at me with “we offered pick 17 and it’s fair” sure, if the trade period had ended I agree with you, but we are still negotiating. No one had walked away- we offered a counter proposal today. Pretty weak and pathetic - but that’s just me. I’m happy my club wouldn’t do this.

So Swans supporters really think they will walk away from Melbourne’s first and let him go the PSD for nothing? Surely you don’t

Pretty apathetic to the situation on my end. If he goes he goes. Unlikely we will be able to replace him with whatever the result is.

You seriously don’t care about a first round pick? You should give us yours then ;)

Not so much we do not care about a first round pick but statistically, a pick in that range does not have a good strike rate. Even then, will that pick replace Dawson as a top five player on our list.

When considering where our list is, unless we can flip it for a KPD, it will not be useful for a flag tilt over the next 2-3 years.

That's irrelevant really, money is not stopping North taking someone in the PSD which is the main point. If you have more capspace its like saying Jeff Bezos has more money than Bill Gates

It actually isn't, because it means we have the financial power to push North away from the 95% cap threshold, thus hurting their future chances if they opt to get in the way for Dawson (noting teams want to make the most of that ability to overflow cap space whilst their in a rebuild).

There is certainly a monetary value that we can handle and maintain the ideal salary cap range that North likely cannot this year.

It's so obvious that Adelaide can walk Dawson to the PSD without any risk of something going wrong and them missing out on him altogether. Why are they still trying to reach a deal with Sydney? Do they not realise they can get him for free?!?

They need to read more Big Footy.

Because it's not free to do that, you just trade one risk for another, and the risk you're inheriting is being forced to heavily front load a contract, thus increasing the risk that you don't get that benefit down the line by being forced to renegotiate terms, or have the player walk out on you in the cheap part of the contract.

Though, between moving pick 4 to Sydney in any deal, or running that gauntlet, I feel a whole lot better with us running that gauntlet.

I think Adelaide have stopped trying that hard really. If you keep getting knocked back you tend to move on

Look, I don’t think he’s going PSD and even if he did, it was basically proven with Martin teams essentially never take a player that doesn’t want to be there anyway but you are kidding yourself if you your capspace will have anything to do with it compared to North

Really? I could have sworn i've read dozens of "we'll just walk him the PSD, thanks" posts in this thread.
That's a load of bull feathers! There's been many more than "dozens". You Sydney mob are having a bad week with numerals generally now aren't you?

How do you know how much $ North have got, what about Gold Coast who might be pissed you're about to raid them next year? The way a lot crows fans act and think they know what is going on behind the scenes if North fans acted the same and represented their club's thoughts, then it would make me think the only reason North traded for CCJ was to keep that PSD #1 open for the only logical situation that looks possible to benefit from which = Dawson to PSD.

A Carlton fan said Cerra didn't want to do that frontload thing because Cerra wanted Freo to get full value for what he is worth. Maybe Dawson will be the same or maybe the crows hope he is a more grubby, unloyal person? Who knows.

I don't understand the ccj / pre season draft situation.

I assume north think Dawson might be gettable

If I was Adelaide, I probably wouldn't.

But, if you ask any Sydney supporter if they want to keep Dawson or get pick 4 (which is clearly pick 6), they would all say Dawson.

There is an enormous gap between that and Melbourne's pick next year.

If I was Adelaide I would seriously consider just paying a fair price for the player they want. They are winning the deal regardless. Dawson should have been in the AA40 at least.
If you ask any Sydney supporter to take Melbourne's first in 22 or sending Dawson to the PSD. What would they choose?

It's relative to your perspective on this deal but in reality, if Sydney refuse to accept the best offer they could haggle for him, they are the party that is consigning him to the PSD. It might be worthwhile considering what this action might mean to other players on your list. Or even whether a player might hesitate to be traded or drafted to Sydney due to them becoming somewhat trapped by a club that puts a players personal wishes below the interests of the club.

It's a bigger picture concept but something not mentioned here and worthy of contemplating.

There comes a point when the haggling has reached finality.

Few notes.

Rate him, but Sydney are taking the piss with some of these asking prices.

Will North ask the question, as a contingency? Probably.

Will he change his mind though? Highly doubt it.

He ends up at the Crows. Would be very surprised if Sydney didn't fold and let him go for nothing.

The story so far:

Offer unders - declined
Offer unders - declined
Well, we tried. Everything is Sydney's fault for not eating a bag of ****.

Edited for accuracy:

The story so far for Adelaide:

Offer fairly - declined
Offer overs - declined
Adelaide continues to try while Sydney continues acting like a spoiled child from all those free top 5 talents gifted by the AFL.

lol. I value your informed and non-biased opinion.

So Adelaide pay a bit overs for pick 1 but then Roos, who are the only team with cap space to take Dawson in the PSD, overlook Dawson because… well… you know…

better snatch that Melbourne 2022 1st swans or else the Roos will have it…
