Not sure about that... If he is going to get the $$$ being reported, they may be better off getting the compo from the AFL, which of course will be in their favour as the AFL's golden child.
They will probably give them 2 first rounders for the next 5 years!!!

They can only get 1 compensation pick from the AFL, they'll get more than that from a trade.

It would be criminal to give up a Wood/Atley and a first for this guy. DeGoey basically plays in the same position as those guys - we would not be gaining anything material on the field and we are giving up a first rounder in the process. We have put years of development into Wood/Atley - Atley is now paying off and Wood will soon.

I don't know people are buying that notion in the first place. This isn't supercoach.

We don't owe Collingwood anything more than a 1st round pick. If they turn their noses up at that and DeGoey wants to come to North, then we just walk him to the draft with a price on his head. End of story.

I suppose you could take the pick or just pay him a million to stay.

Or not take a low offer from north. Let him go into the draft if De Goey decides to knock back our offer... and he can risk a year at Carlton or GC, on whatever they decide to pay him after accuring him in the draft.

Pick 13 for a million dollar player at 22 years old... surely you know that sounds a little bit under valued?

Mate, don't take this the wrong way as I acknowledge you have been a decent poster, but we're not here to be "fair" to Collingwood.

Our first round pick and player is what we should be looking at offering if in fact this offer is serious.
On the player, it would have to be someone of worth to them. Given their lack of KPP depth, and given they will most likely lose Moore we will need to offer a KPP., imo. Wood or McKay are the only ones I see with that worth and ready to play. If I had a preference or choice I would offer up Wood, as DeGoey is a more versatile option that can play Mid and Fwd.

We can’t afford to give up our first round next year as we will need that for Kelly.

When is the last time a gun player (wanted by every single club) was walked into the draft? I can't recall...

Mate, if they lose De Goey, but pick up Lynch, do you think there still going to have the money left over to pay for a decent player?

I doubt it.

Is it possible that we are publicly offering/throwing $$$ at all these players in an attempt to show Josh Kelly we won't sit around waiting for him.
He will be watching thinking the 'war chest' may be empty by the time his contract is up & he should think about coming at the end of this year...
Bit far fetched maybe, maybe a stroke of genius by Gubby!
That's a bit too 4D chess to be likely.

They will get a better pick from the AFL (pick after theirs - possible pick 3 or 4) than they will from Collingwood, who are on track to make finals & have a pick in the teens. Unless Collingwood offer up a gun player (Sidebottom, DeGoey ) they will be better off taking the compo in a very very strong draft

Luke Ball. Nick Stevens. It doesn't happen very often and won't happen if we convince De Goey to take our offer. We'll trade.

There's some silly talk as to the value of this bloke.

He's not worth a mill, much less more than a top 10 pick.

They will force Collingwood to find a way to upgrade.

Gold Coast will get a compo pick mate, which will be better than anything Collingwood can muster.

Gold Coast will then land the King twins.
