You haven't answered my question.

You blokes are balls deep into Lynch, what are you expecting to have to fork out for him?

Lynch is a free agent. De Goey is not.

2 completely different circumstances in relation to trading for a million dollar a year 22 year old.

We all know how free agency works, and I don't want to look like I'm derailling your thread on De Goey by going through Collingwoods entire list or potential recruits. I think thats inappropriate for a North thread.

Story is De Goey to North for 5 mil... but you have to trade for him.

Of you actually think pick 13 would do that deal, thats cool. but if thats the case Pick 7 would be worth any 22 year old in the league worth 1.2 million a year.

Surely you see Im not trolling...

honestly what is a 22 year old from any club worth 5m over years worth at the trade table to you guys? I don't know myself, but if Gibbs was worth 2 first rounders at his age... Pick 13 for De Goey at his is an entree only.

No offence, hoping for a balanced convo on the topic of De Goey. Pies list management and potential Lynch recruitment discussions is inappropriate here, and will only piss off the north supporters on this board.

Is pick 13 something you honestly think the Pies will take for him?

Or not take a low offer from north. Let him go into the draft if De Goey decides to knock back our offer... and he can risk a year at Carlton or GC, on whatever they decide to pay him after accuring him in the draft.

Pick 13 for a million dollar player at 22 years old... surely you know that sounds a little bit under valued?

errr you do understand how the player power works right, if he decides to come to north and goes into the draft, collinwood gets nothing and if carlton or any other teams pick him up, they kinda have to pay for his salary which is 1 million dollar per season. Now because his intention is to come to us, any other team pick him up wouldn't be able to keep him as he would say i am leaving for north next year and carlton and he walk to the draft again as we would not trade for a player who has nominated us. Now why would carlton pay 1 mil for a player who is not going to stay for long term?

pick 11 and daniel nielson and 2019 2nd round pick or 2018 and 2019 1st round pick. Of course Allan could whipser 'walk' to him so we nab him int he draft. There is no danger for others to pick up as they have to fork out 1 mil per year and unless they win a flag that year he is still walking to draft to us.

No. We don't.

Collingwood has to match the offer, or trade him and take the best price on offer, or delist him without a trade.

That's all there is to it mate.

Agreed. Absolutely agree. But we're not here to be fair to De Goey departing.

True, but that leave's Collingwood 3 options which I have outlined above.

Our first round pick and player is what we should be looking at offering if in fact this offer is serious.
On the player, it would have to be someone of worth to them. Given their lack of KPP depth, and given they will most likely lose Moore we will need to offer a KPP., imo. Wood or McKay are the only ones I see with that worth and ready to play. If I had a preference or choice I would offer up Wood, as DeGoey is a more versatile option that can play Mid and Fwd.

We can’t afford to give up our first round next year as we will need that for Kelly.

i am concerned that if we trade out the 1st pick, then where the flick are we going to use to draft thomas?

Pies don't need to match anything... he is not a free agent. If he wants to sign with them for less (even much less) then he can

We have to see where our first lands but let's go with pick 10-13 as most probable. So its our First Rounder in 2018 (a recognised strong draft to pick 20), and

then we are offering a previous 1st round draft pick KPD in either Mckay or Durdin OR if you require a player in our best 22 then its Luke McDonald - (himself a top 10 pick - Victorian junior champ - that has had years of development put into him.)

Yeah, all well and good but if you want Lynch, you're not getting him from free agency. Gold Coast will force a trade. I'm trying to gauge what you think Lynch is worth at the trade table becuase De Goey, sure as hell won't be worth the same value as Lynch.

Mate, if they lose De Goey, but pick up Lynch, do you think there still going to have the money left over to pay for a decent player?

I doubt it.
Wood isn’t worth more than 300-400k I’m sure they can afford that.

Surely we aren’t contemplating 2 x first round picks?

i like your thinking.

But you honestly think De Goey would still be there at Pick 12 or 13?

You'd be lucky if he was at pick 2.

(I didn't think you could put a price on your head and amount of required years for contract in the draft anymore... if ever... isn't that draft tampering?)

Serious question??? and no way he'd be sitting there still at Pick 13!! C'mon... that is funny, isn't it?

That means if Ben Brown is worth 900k a year and went into the draft he'd be sitting there at pick 18!!!

Ben Brown would go number one in next years draft. no doubt.

Wood isn’t worth more than 300-400k I’m sure they can afford that.

What? I'm pretty sure he is on that max amount or over already.

He's also contracted until the end of 2020, so he's not going anywhere.

I can't even figure out how his name was brought up in the first place.

Surely we aren’t contemplating 2 x first round picks?

Of course not. The bloke has played 4 or 5 good games of footy over his short career.

FMD, he's not Leigh Matthews.

Can't believe this shit has started again already. Not a huge fan of this - JDG is very good but we will have to pay through the nose...and then there's other nose concerns with him yeah? Gaff and maybe McGovern as a FA, Kelly next year, and develop our own. That'll do me. Only positive potentially is this derailing the filth a bit, but then look what happened with Martin and the Tigers last year.
