We have to see where our first lands but let's go with pick 10-13 as most probable. So its our First Rounder in 2018 (a recognised strong draft to pick 20), and

then we are offering a previous 1st round draft pick KPD in either Mckay or Durdin OR if you require a player in our best 22 then its Luke McDonald - (himself a top 10 pick - Victorian junior champ - that has had years of development put into him.)

Whatever you're smoking mate, you'd better stop. De Goey is averaging 18 disposals per game ffs! He is not the son of God he's a very naughty boy!

Up until now, I had always assumed you had deliberately spelled 'shima' and 'grieg' incorrectly as some sort of joke. Now I'm not so sure.

What’s a fair comparison to a possible DeGoey trade?
Treloar was 2 first rounders and got a second round back.

Treloar was rated a lot higher than DeGoey when he left GWS.

We gave Pick 7, our future first round pick and pick 68 for Treloar and pick 28.

Agree Treloar had a bit more reputation... but he also was being offered 5m over 5 years.

They "kinda" balance each other out.

i like your thinking.

But you honestly think De Goey would still be there at Pick 12 or 13?

You'd be lucky if he was at pick 2.

(I didn't think you could put a price on your head and amount of required years for contract in the draft anymore... if ever... isn't that draft tampering?)

Serious question??? and no way he'd be sitting there still at Pick 13!! C'mon... that is funny, isn't it?

That means if Ben Brown is worth 900k a year and went into the draft he'd be sitting there at pick 18!!!

Ben Brown would go number one in next years draft. no doubt.
Exactly right... if people think Carlton, Brisbane, St. Kilda, GC etc etc etc won't pick him up before us, they are kidding themselves.
Using Nick Stevens as an example of this happening is deadset laughable... that was fifteen years ago & Carlton had pick 2 in the draft. Not to mention Stevens wanted to go to Collingwood!

Tom Lynch is a restricted free agent and Gold Coast / AFL could match any offer put in front of him, thereby forcing a trade. The only way this situation won't play out this way is if the AFL offers Gold Coast better compensation for losing a free agent than any club has ever received. That's to say a first round pick immediately after their pick, which could give them #1 and #2 in the super draft.

True, but they aren't finishing last. The finish with 3, 4, or 5. The Saints and Dogs tank will be in full force

Why are we offering $5m to a guy averaging 18 disposals a game - thats the question you are really asking (and I agree with you).

However if the club believes De Goey is the second coming then we have to satisfy them on a trade - and it wont be our 2nd pick with Hrovat thrown in to sweeten it.

If we are making these sorts of offers can we please ****ing keep them in house. Putting it out in the open didn’t work last year and it won’t work this year. The agents and players just use it to their advantage to stay at their own club.

Better off keeping it all in house and swooping during trade week much like Sydney done with Franklin.

Also De-Goey isn’t worth that sort of coin. Would be a ****ing waste. If we have money to waste pay Cunnington, Ziebell and Higgins a bit more. Don’t just chase someone for the sake of it.

Did this bullshit come out on the club website?

Can you confirm that this offer is factually correct?

Player managers are playing the game. Dusty last year is now the blueprint.

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if this story issue massively overblown

Can you post the URL of the press conference footage featuring Brad Scott and Funky Carl announcing the offer? Because I have a sneaking suspicion that there wasn't one. Just as there wasn't last year. Give journalists a little credit for uncovering these "in house" deals.

Collingwood leaked it.
Ben Niall for sure.

Not even hard to figure out. He's been drip feeding Jake this sort of shit for a while.

I imagine we probably would of been keeping Gubby low key, amazing coincidence the Age breaks Gubby yesterday and this today.

Stevens breaks it for the Hun almost simultaneously with the Age, there's definitely been deals done to keep the leaks hush hush between the journo's, as it's all bipartisan.

Smells of the Niall brothers to me.
Eddie tried to avoid talking about it and ended it with "if a player wants to leave he's more than welcome to go"
