I don't know people are buying that notion in the first place. This isn't supercoach.

We don't owe Collingwood anything more than a 1st round pick. If they turn their noses up at that and DeGoey wants to come to North, then we just walk him to the draft with a price on his head. End of story.

exactly, I doubt anyone else could match that salary, Luke Ball play, we could get DeGoey in the 5th round.

The Treloar injury will hopefully mean JDG will get a lot more time in the midfield and show how good he could be in there. And he’d want to show a lot, because no way should we be paying a million bucks a year for anything but a gun midfielder.

FWIW, I find the $1m figure highly dubious anyway.

FWIW.... if 1 million a year for 5 years is the offer, I am definitely interested in finding out how much the trade will be worth to us.

Take that as you will.

our first pick. that. is. it.

Can you post the URL of the press conference footage featuring Brad Scott and Funky Carl announcing the offer? Because I have a sneaking suspicion that there wasn't one. Just as there wasn't last year. Give journalists a little credit for uncovering these "in house" deals.

Spot on!

Lesson 101 - Player Manager leaks supposed offer to gain better deal from current club!

our first pick. that. is. it.

Exactly. It not gunna happen.

At that quoted rate we could swap De Goey for Ben Brown and upgrade our 4th round pick for your second or third round pick!

Exactly... way off.

Thanks for chatting nicely North supporters. FWIW, seriously, looking at your draw and your forn thst first round pick of yours could be as late as pick 15 or 16.

Good Luck. Heres hoping you don't pass our path!

We both know its gonna be later than that.

I get the feeling that in 2 years it will look like a good deal but it will cost us at the trade table. I'd rather we go FA and keep our picks for this draft and Kelly in 2019.

Why not push up his value, Collingwood will have to pay top dollar to keep him.

How many consecutive years can we pay under the salary cap? We may need to off load a heap of cash next year . 1 x 3 mil 4 x 500k would take care off that.

This.

What he’s actually worth is irrelevant - bc he’ll be offered whatever we’re forced to pay in order to meet the cap. Front load and then forget.

It’s the having to trade part that ticks me off

Collingwood leaked it.

Eddie tried to avoid talking about it and ended it with "if a player wants to leave he's more than welcome to go"

That's actually the correct response. There's no chance they would be forking over a million.

If De Goey walks they have the coin for Lynch, and I reckon they would be quietly pleased with that outcome.

At the price we're allegedly offering, if it's correct, presumably we're betting that, Jordan will become one of the top five midfielders in the competition?

Here we go again.

Whilst I like the club being aggressive in going after quality players, I have to question making it public.

Telegraphs our moves and if it doesn’t come off, it provides plenty of poor media that reinforces the ‘not a destination club’ line.

I like this drama, let it act it out. I want Collingwood to match so it put more strain on their list.

I can't believe I waded through 9 pages of this cesspool of a thread and thus far there has nary been a mention of Liam Anthony, a fourth rounder, Sam Gibson or any other of the usual trade absurdities. I'm not angry with you guys, I'm just disappointed.

On a slightly more serious note, here's hoping that this causes Collingwood to focus all of it's attention and money on De Goey and away from their other out of contract players, allowing us to swoop in and smooth talk Jamie Elliott to coming over to us on the cheap. A crumbing, goal kicking small forward should be our priority number 2.

Did Ball put a monetary value on him when he went into the national draft? I have a feeling he did.

Yes, in the pre-season draft. There was some seriously dodgy shit going on there. He nominated with a suspiciously high price to discourage other suitors. Then, without fanfare, he signed a subsequent renewal at significant unders.

In other words, they effectively front-loaded a longer “unofficial” contract so he could get to Collingwood. There should haven been sanctions for such shenanigans...
