Loaded and a premiership player

Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

You mean a less wealthier guy who looks a shadow of the player he was last year. All the best to him but if Richmond had even a modestly challenging draw it wouldn't be looking too good, there is so much pressure on him to perform to beat decent teams. No wonder he fled to NZ as soon as he could for a break. :p

I like degoey and he is probably my favourite player on our list ON POTENTIAL.

but if this is the price he is being offered, he would be stupid not to take it and Collingwood would be stupid to match it!

1 million a year is Patrick Dangerfield/nat fyfe/buddy frankling/gary ablett/ dane swan/ chris judd type money.

degoey isn't worth that YET.

and he wouldn't be the first player to show a heap of talent and be the saviour and then stagnate for the rest of their career.

I also feel the same about tom lynch. is not worth the price tag. this could be as good as he gets and its not worth 1 million +

offer a fair and reasonable amount and IF degoey or lynch etc want to stay and then prove to be a superstar of the game, then you get your million dollar contract.

Well they are Offering that Kind of Money that tells me they are that Desperate for him

Not for him exactly, but after failing in two massive and very public offers last year, their credibility as a destination will be pretty fragile and they will NEED to land a big fish this year (or make it very clear they're not fishing at all....which seemingly isn't the case)

Big money is nice, but star players also want success, and when too many of their peers have rejected a potential destination (especially when they took significantly less money to do so), it can easily become a cycle of rejection.

For North's sake, you'd hope they've done their homework and ensured that the fish is hooked and almost on board before letting this get public.

The other thing to note is that North are pretty confident that Kelly will end up with them sooner rather than later anyway. If they miss out on DeGoey it won't be the end of the world. BUT, if they land DeGoey and then land Josh Kelly the following season, just how good could they potentially be? If this is the beginning of a rebuild right now then it is already ahead of schedule. Add those two boys and it just lands them right in the middle of a premiership window in 2-3 years time.

Goldstein, Kelly, Higgins, Cunnington starting midfield.
Brown, DeGoey, Ziebell starting forward with the latter 2 rotating through the guts. It's pretty exciting on paper.

The bloke has seriously had 3-4 good games this year and that’s it.

The media hype about him has been complete hyperbole after each of those games and then he completely drops off the narrative again.

Happy to save $1m and grab the two first rounders if he really wants that coin.

I just can’t see them getting Kelly next year if they get De Goey this year. If you are offering a player 1 mil a year your giving up 2 first round picks. I can’t see GWS accepting a future first from North next year for Josh Kelly.

Yeah I guess if you throw enough darts you bound to hit something
That’s Norfs recruiting strategy - pretty pathetic club TBH

How many Vic clubs made big offers to Dusty and Kelly last year? It might be quicker to list the clubs that didn’t.

Do you think 1.1 million is significantly less than 1.2 million?

Other clubs kicked the tyres....

Dusty took "over $2Million" less....I'd call that significant.

I would be amazed if we gave up 2 1st rounders for him. We don’t need our 1st this year with a top 5 pick coming in cheap. We will hold onto next years.

If you're offering that amount of money and think that two first rounders won't be used.. you're very wrong, He won't be leaving but North would have to pay up two firsts or First and a genuine player like a Mason Wood.

Lol what? We offered 1.2 you paid him 1.1. You can’t add the extra years in a contract and say he is missing out!!

50k a year is not significantly less. Leave the mayo off your posts.

Yes, you’re going to offer a player a million bucks a year, but only part with one first round pick. Good one.

Care to comment on the Pies recruiting strategy? References to Mayne, Wells and Greenwood will be very interesting to read about. Some pretty wild darts being thrown by the Pies.

I imagine any deal would be this year's first and next year's first. Though they be interested in some of our players.

Huh?

They can take the first round pick or he can walk to the draft with a price on his head.

We don't owe them any favors.

Hoskin-Elliot, Treloar, Adams...................

We kind of do - without them offering Greenwood a longer contract on much more money we wouldn’t have landed Higgins. They took a bullet by taking our deadwood so we could bring in a jet.
