Jordy was going to tackle - at the last second he realised the ball had been disposed of . Unfortunalely he was comitted and the forward momentum guaranteed that a collision was inevitable. With a split second reaction he braced and turned his body sideways in an act of self preservation and to protect that which is sacrosanct - his own head. Unfortunately the West coast player , Elijah Hewett, was colateral damage , falling head long into DeGoey's shoulder as Jordan tried to tuckup and withdraw from the contest.

A lot of delusion on our side and hysteria on the other over this hit for some reason. It was a bad bump. Accept it. It also wasn't the act of genocide that some in the media are treating it like as well.

3-4 weeks is what he deserves. Anything less than 3 isn't happening and anything more than 4 is excessive and should be appealed.
Anything more then 3 is BULL. SHIT.

Hopefully De Goey learns from this and opts to tackle in the future rather than bump. He goes the bump way too often which then allows the opposition to keep running with the ball if they keep their feet. I haven’t read much of the thread so sorry if this has already been said. I’ve noticed it a lot this year but didn’t anticipate it would cost him weeks. Probably better now than later in the year.

I disagree with you. Even in real time it’s still late. The bump happens after the hand pass. If you watch it in slow motion the lateness is accentuated.
It was a great bump if the year was 1986 . It’s strange to think he’ll get more weeks than Banksy did in 1986 for Putting Rhys’ light out.
I miss footy the way it used to be played.
Except if you were on the receiving end of some of those hits where players lined up someone...

If Jordy had dipped his head for a tackle there may well have been a head clash and both worse off. When someone zigs at the last second when your were expecting them to zag it's harder than most think to do all the calculations in a split second and come out with everyone in great shape.

I get where the game's at and he has to be punished but FMD - that verbal diarrhoea from Robbo above is just irresponsible gutter "journalism" at best.

I would also say anything less than 3 is bullshit. This is the exact bump we need to remove from the game to stop brain injuries.

Thanks Kappa, for always being that nagging, annoying voice of reason on one shoulder. I could have used that in my younger days. You never fail to see the potential problem no matter the scenario. 🍺

Hun and Slobbo going to town. This one referencing “Bashed.” Take your hand off it Slobbo.

He'd be the first to carry on like a 2 bit hooker had they had a melee as well. Robo just an ambulance chaser who by dumb luck got a position he should never have.

I agree. People are acting as if the bump has no purpose, other than to hurt the opposition. In reality, it is risky and difficult to tackle a player who is coming straight at you, and thats one of the main times a bump is used and a reason it exists. The hysteria is ridiculous. The kid saw him coming and suprisingly didnt protect himself at all - even Bucks noted that on the radio.

See I think Elijah actually placed his head on Jordy’s shoulder, obviously underestimated the additional flex space and the inevitable contact resulted, knocking him a little senseless.
