Looks like he has a fair leg on him, good pace clean hands over head. Makes you wonder how these guys get overlooked and others with less talent and still have flaws get taken.

Late bloomer + Covid. He was a chubby kid who wasn't in the rep teams when younger. Then moved between Sunraysia and Darwin footy leagues to play due to covid restrictions. Scouted by a struggling SANFL side and took his chances. Incredibly lucky for us and him I reckon. It was meant to be.

Fair point. And could be a reason that other clubs overlooked him - no pedigree or proven track record through the development programmes. Hopefully he continues his trajectory of improvement and flourishes at CFC.

He was more into cricket than footy at the time. Didn't take the natural footy pathways, wasn't that serious about footy, was just something you did in the country in the winter. But then he fell out of love with cricket and discovered more of a love for footy. Played local, then went to Darwin and SA with all covid around here. The rest is history.

He shouldn’t need to be a worldbeater to get a go in our midfield. Jai Newcombe plucked from the VFL looked like a superstar in the second half there.

I caught a glimpse of a tallish dark haired bloke hugging players as they left the ground at the end of the game and thought he looked a likely type before I realized he was our boy! Can't wait to see him in action.

Day 3 at the club and he’s already handing out hugs 🤗

Nice 👍

Probably more that it is so much harder to make it in cricket and he realised he wasn't going to.

I was just taken by his size. If he can play the game he is just what we need.

Only had to watch Nash today to appreciate the impact a tall big bodied mid can have. Hopefully McInnes or Carmichael can offer us similar.

McInnes shapes as a similar type to DeGoey, so while he could end up a big mid it won’t be predominantly as an inside mid. If Carmichael is more inside they could compliment each other nicely.

Macrae isn't going to be small. A fair way to go for all of them though.

Not necessarily more inside, but allegedly has much better endurance if we’re talking about Andrew Gaff level here.
