De Goey is a ball butcher in the forward line.... Misses a lot of easy shots.
yeah, I think he is someone who tends to think about other things when playing other than the game itself which affects his concentration. He is a free spirit type, does what he wants to do when it suits him. On field he often looks like he's somewhere else. Now and then he zeroes in but mentally he needs some development.

He has had a good start but comparing him with De Goey is chalk and cheese. Take a look at Carmichael’s disposal efficiency. De Goey is an elite ball user.

Ur not serious are you. I love DeGoey but he is a Butcher let's be honest

Carmichael looks great. Particularly love the power in holding off tacklers and still getting disposal off. U have one here

He sprays a few of his more ambitious shots at goal, but his field kicking is superb.

Considering he is still absolutely RAW and has no muscle definition the ceiling looks pretty high.

Disagree. I don't have his stats handy but to the eye he butchers his field kicking more than he should.
Total agreement - I like his physicality and ability to change a contest situation . . . until his sh@thouse conditioning gives out (he still doesn't have an AFL tank after 8 seasons).

But yes he does butcher the ball far too much for someone of his talent.

It comes down to conditioning.

Here you go with your unfounded nonsense about his conditioning. If you didn't have 90% of the forum blocked you might have actually had to face the music on one of your many continuing unfounded claims.

Take it from those who watch him every week, DeGoeys field kicking and decision making is extremely damaging. Doesn’t butcher it too often either.
He's improved, but he's nowhere near as good a user as Martin. De Goey was an absolute butcher to start his career though. I wasn't a big particularly big fan of some of his decision making. He's developed the same type of confidence as Martin after getting those stints up forward and kicking bags, because he didn't look any good in midfield with no tank to speak of. It's helped him make calmer decisions with the ball than he did his first few years. Carmichael's ball use has been considered above average, so I think that takes precedence over two debut games in non ideal conditions. The fact is, he is exactly what this team has been missing for a long time, a genuine big bodied inside mid, despite people saying he's underdeveloped physically, you can see he has a big frame. Feels like we've been looking for one forever. Even with his kicking efficiency as is, he's basically a much bigger Taylor Adams.

Goes at about 55-60% kick efficiency but think that’s skewed due to missed shots on goal, and hacked kicks from congestion. I have no issues with his disposal by foot.

I think you right he certainly does have a large frame to work with and I do not see him being unwilling to do the work to build his body and I think his kicking is already better than Adams it is great to just have another big body to help Adams at the coalface.

I rewatched the game and kept a close eye on Josh. His stat's are misleading he had so many kicks / ineffective because he basically soccered the ball of the deck everything he was near in for the first 3 quarters. Near the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th started to pick it and looked strong over the ball and started to impact the game. Has got some talent to build off

They count kicks off the ground?

They count kicks off the ground?
That’s the key word.
Same would apply for a handball.
Even one of those ones where they don’t quite connect with a slippery ball.
Of course Carmy didn’t have to worry about those.
