Really? Josh has always seemed pretty quick to me. He accelerates to top speed in a flash. His lack of slight pace was always the only real concern, but he has built up a big tank and is so smart that he has overcome this issue magnificently.

Chimes, I was referring to questions about him as a young footballer and when he first arrived at the club.Really? Josh has always seemed pretty quick to me. He accelerates to top speed in a flash.
Cheers Corp, had never seen this. It's funny because you wouldn't really say that he lacks a yard of pace now. Conquering those asthma issues clearly has done him wonders in terms of how hard he can run now, when he puts the jets on he burns oppo wingmen pretty hard.Chimes, I was referring to questions about him as a young footballer and when he first arrived at the club.
"Obviously he has had just one year within our program. I reckon he peaked around championships time and we were probably a little disappointed with the end of his season. He has serious skill, a very good footy brain, and we would have liked to have had him in the program a bit longer. He doesn’t look that quick out on the ground but his GPS data stacks up quite well. He lacks a yard of speed but his footy nous alleviates that. The sidestep he has learned from Dad, and there are a lot of similarities with Peter – great goal sense and the footy brain with the way he sees the game" – Craig Notman (Oakleigh Chargers talent manager), Inside Football, November 2016.
That 45 degree inside kick to hit up Adams (I think?) in the third was the best kick of the season.
Cats had defenders short, deep, boundary side and corridor side, and he hit the change of direction kick across his body with centimetre perfection to set up the goal.
Reminded me of the way Didak used to kick across his body with freakish accuracyThat 45 degree inside kick to hit up Adams (I think?) in the third was the best kick of the season.

It was a sublime kick, but the degree of difficulty on his kick to hit Frampton on the wing mid in the first was off the charts. Backpedaling on the 45 degree away from his target he hits a 40 metre drop punt around his body over the top of the Cats players to hit Frampton in stride. I posted it about a month ago that he’s more skilful than Nick and I’ll argue the point with anyone. That 45 degree inside kick to hit up Adams (I think?) in the third was the best kick of the season.

He was never bad, he just didn’t have the tank or strength to play on the wing at that point in time. His talent was still on display. Was he that bad when he was struggling to get games way back when?
I mean Callum Brown was getting games ahead of him wasn't he?

I was scratching my head for so long on the right comparison and there’s currently a 2001 Brisbane v Adelaide match on Fox. Josh is Aker reincarnate it’s actually scary. On a side note watching the ball ping around in that match was a sight to behold. They were such a talented group.
Not for me. It’s the difference between a 9.5 and 10, but Nick can’t hit the kicks Josh does because of the way he moves. Nick’s more straight line where Josh is all angles a bit like a right arm v left arm quick. There were 4 kicks last night (3 have been mentioned so far the 4th resulted in Elliott’s goal out the back in the 2nd) that maybe a handful of players league wide could hit and he nailed all of them. Perfectly.Daicos brothers both equally skilled.

I think Josh works angles better, but Nick has better vision going inside 50. Nick's better at dropping it in small holes with really crafty vertical weighting. Not for me. If you go to the start of this thread there's videos of intra club practice matches where he looked pretty slick, hard to see why it took until 2020 for him to be in the best 22. I think it was mainly down to his smaller size. Was he that bad when he was struggling to get games way back when?
