There is some criticism of Dodoro, but the defence of his trading this year and last is strident, and it's not one or two isolated examples.

Again, refer previous comments about Dodoro not valuing his own deal as enough.
There is pleeenty of criticism for Dodoro regarding Daniher. Many believed we should have traded Daniher last year instead of holding onto him. Plenty of criticism for the Shiel trade. Most Essendon fans also believed he unnecessarily made the Fantasia trade complicated.

I don’t have any problems with his conduct regarding the Dunkley trade though except for the length it took to come up with his offer. The final offer of pick 8 and a future second is more than enough. The 3-way trade for Treloar and Dunkley was also enough. Bulldogs just weren’t interested which is fair enough.

You’re misinterpreting Dodoro’s statement. Saying he wouldn’t do the deal if he was Bulldogs doesn’t mean he believes that’s what Dunkley is worth. It means he understands why Bulldogs didn’t trade Dunkley and would do the same for a player like him. A classic case of a player being worth more to a club than the open market considering Dunkley only has 3 quarters of one season last year to even justify a first rounder. There’s a reason why we targeted Dunkley over an Oliver type because he should realistically be cheaper than Oliver. Someone that’s pushed out of the midfield loses value.

Don’t think Dodoro or anyone expected the price to be 2 top 10 picks, which is what a contracted Oliver costs. We offered as high as we could and moved on from it. No issues there. All of Essendon, Bulldogs and Dunkley parted in an amicable way.

Josh Dunkley and our 2020 1st round pick for Zach Merrett and Anthony Mcdonald-Tipunhoweveryouspellit.
No way

I doubt anything will get done unless it's astronomical. Dogs have pretty much blacklisted dealing with essendon and it's not like if he leaves it's because he is unhappy at the club but for the opportunity to play with his brother at the same club on a much bigger income.

Disagree on that, surely Sam hasn't written off the whole draft over Jamarra.. live trading during the draft also allows plenty of flexibility in swapping picks around. You will definitely trade in some picks during the trade period for this years draft, although clearly would not have originally planned to involve Dunkley
There a much better ways of getting points for JUH than trading out Dunkley for points.

Essendon have reportedly just hired Daniel Giansiracusa.

You’ve snagged the second best looking bloke at the club. Keep it at that, would ya?

Good pickup, though. Gia needed to leave the kennel at some stage to be taken seriously. He hasn’t left the building in over 20 years haha. Great to get an insight into other clubs processes.

Worst part about this is that it's going to drag on until the end while the media speculate. An offer won't even be able to be made until at least the Saad, Caldwell and Daniher deals are done.

first time he has ever had any thing to do with a club outside of the Bulldogs.

Will be interesting to see how he goes

He really needed to get out and experience how other clubs work.

On to Dunkley - regardless of whether Josh is gettable or not, Essendon could do worse than sign Kyle up as a freebie. The whole family are athletically gifted and he showed real signs at VFL level at Footscray before Melbourne took him in the mid-season draft.

I'd like to think if there's legs to the suggestion of us picking up Kyle, that it's based around him being a legitimate choice regardless of what Josh is doing.

he might turn out ok at best

There is a reason no one picked him up in the national draft or rookie draft. He didn't look terrible when he played for us, but equally he didn't really catch the eye either

Sounds like a good fit for us then.
hey if that is what it takes to get his brother across the line then do it I say

Josh Dunkley played as a pure mid is a ****ing star

In fairness, you have a number of inside mid options so Kyle was never going to push a guy like Oliver or Viney out of the centre rotations. I think with a bit of time and opportunity Kyle becomes an AFL standard footballer.

maybe, maybe not. Like I said he could be an AFL standard player, but that is about his ceiling imo

Either way if I was Essendon and that was what I had to do to get his brother across the line, I would defiantly do it
