Because the end result is either the same or the Dogs panic to get anything for him and process the paperwork.
Nup.
As it stands, the Lions are asking for picks back anyway, and if they reduce their offer after we've gone to the board for PSD approval, it just signals further bad faith.

Dunkley to the PSD hurts the dogs a lot more than it will hurt the Lions. Anyone who thinks it'll happen is reading way too much into the media. The media have painted this narrative for the clicks and it's working.
Our Board of Directors have signed off on it.
It's not an empty threat, nor a media fantasy.

Most bulldog fans are comfortable with Dunkley running the PSD/draft gauntlet rather than taking a offer of less than half of what we've asked for.

The call is being made by the list management team and not fans on Bigfooty. They're professionals and will set emotion aside and get the best deal they can.

Big call by the board. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Who said BigFooty fans are responsible for trades?

You said the PSD threat is media driven.
That is incorrect. It's in play of the deal as it currently stands isn't improved.

Dockers make off like Bandits in that deal
Every chance NM F2 is late teens/early 20s.
On balance I think that trade scenario seems pretty fair

Media have been driving it hard for the last week. The stance from the board is a further flex/bluff in an attempt to create more pressure.
List mamagement team are holding out to get the best deal they can, it will likely go down to the wire but they won't send him to the PSD.

Western Bulldogs are basically the rich guy with 3 cars already trying to sell the 4th. It’s quite easy to simply bin the 4th car at the wreckers if it’s too hard because you have 3 left

With the insane bargains of Hagan and Darcy , they can afford to take this one to the wreckers
Treloar was basically a freebie as well. Plus the cap relief.

Some years you're in a good position, some years not so much. We've got a or have this year but the last few years have been very good for us.

I think it's fair play for the Dogs to play hard ball. Dunkley is OOC and clearly has shown no desire to stay at the club, the Dogs are well within their rights to send him packing to the PSD.

But it's also a case of a missed opportunity to cash in on an asset that doesn't wish to be there. Personally I'd feel a bit bewildered if the Lions sent say Lachie Neale to the PSD instead of receiving compsenation, even if it's not fair compensation. Just to take a stand.

If the Dogs do not acquire Lobb and send Dunkley to the PSD, I'd be cancelling my membership if I was a supporter. If they can acquire Lobb through other means and send Dunkley to the PSD, then that's whatever. Some diehard fans will feel happy and the smart fans will ponder why the let a valuable asset walk for free, just to look tough.

I'd be shocked if the deal doesn't get done though. Seen this story too many times with Beams etc. It'll happen.

The two players loom as the two toughest deals ahead of Wednesday night’s trade deadline but Brisbane made significant ground telling the Bulldogs it would trade its pick 21 and future first-round selection for Dunkley and pick 39.

The peace deal is expected to help finalise Dunkley’s move north as the Bulldogs may need 21 to secure Rory Lobb’s move from Fremantle.

Essendon does not want to get involved in the Dunkley deal and any pre-season move despite having interest in the clearance winner two years ago.

The Bombers are expected to baulk at the prospect of snaring Dunkley as it does not want the distraction and mess of having a player on their list against his wishes for only one season under new coach Brad Scott.
