Seems like he didn't want everyone to know he'd f***ed himself up and made up a story.

Robert Allenby anyone ??

Apart from the horrible choice of song, that was enjoyable.
Reminded me of just how better skilled the old drivers were. Much less tech, an actual “patterned” gearbox!
Was a joy to see.
Different skill sets.

The current generation car less so, but Gen2 cars were very complex to drive and about 10 seconds a lap faster than anything Brock, Johnson etc drove, and most of that was made up around corners and across the top.

You know what I think is the biggest difference between divers nowadays and the old days.

If there was a car stranded off the racing line in the old days, it could sit there all day and be untouched.

Nowadays, some moron would pile drive the car even if they knew it was there for the whole race. Something would happen.

Of course the cars are faster. As are all cars these days, even road cars. That’s the evolution of the internal combustion engine.
But in all forms of modern race cars the driver is dialled out as much as possible. Simply a lesser skill set required today.

Somewhat true but reflexes have to be far sharper today, given the speed of some categories over their past versions.

Absolutely rubbish

Well I cannot see why yesteryears drivers wouldn’t be just as sharp in todays cars.certainly a lot less to do while driving today so you can focus on your reflexes.
And you definitely can focus n those things when you are driving on tracks that aren’t going to kill you at every bend. You’d be extremely unlucky to die these days even with the faster speeds.

Really good lap from Feeney in that shootout.

Waters came out and then blew it out of the water! superb lap, even with a little wall rub...

Mostert gave the wall a nice rub, too haha and just pips Feeney.

Stanaway with an excellent closer but seemed to just miss one apex which puts him into 2nd...

Quality shootout like always on the Gold Coast

That was an intense qualifying session, just 0.23 across the whole top 10.

For the shootout,
A pretty good lap from Le Brocq set the standard.

Then Brown did a very nice lap to get .15 in front...

Brodie Kostecki then smokes the field! great lap to be 0.28 in front of Brown.

BK did get a little lucky with the track conditions, but certainly made the most of it.
