Jumper clash fails

Going back some years, I wonder how things went in the 1965 and 1966 VFA First Division Grand Finals, both of which were Port Melbourne vs. Waverley Panthers? The design of the Port and Waverley jumpers were near identical, the only difference being that Port wore red and blue vertical striped jumpers, Waverley red and black vertical striped jumpers. Even if the Panthers wore red shorts it still would have been an almighty clash.
I think Richmond played Claremont at one point - at that point Claremomt was wearing an extremely dark navy jumper with a gold sash. Someone will have footage.

EDIT - or was it Collingwood v Swan Districts

Why are Brisbane wearing white shorts at home against a team with a predominantly white jumper?

Probably because they forgot to get some royal blue shorts made up to complete the kit. They usually wear their red Fitzroy-inspired away guernseys with white shorts so it was either that or their maroon home shorts which would look a bit odd.

maroon doesn't go with red and they don't have blue shorts. they should really get them made for the games where they wear fitzroy colours.

Mate's old man played in 1978 vfa div 2 grand final, Frankston v Camberwell. Video somewhere on here.

Ah did they?

How did their constitution handle that? ;)

This was the Pies strip. It’s on YouTube

the point is to replicate the look of the old fitzroy jumpers and the roys wore blue shorts from inception
When Fitzroy first moved to the reddish colour instead of maroon in 1975 (for colour TV purposes), we were horrible yellow shorts and maroon, blue and gold striped socks. I still prefer the maroon jumper to red

the yellow shorts were just for away games. didn't even last the whole season, they'd switched back to white half way through 1975

Ports Dark Coloured Indigenous jumper has a white back panel for their black numbers. It looks near identical to the back of Freo’s all white Indigenous kit.

If you design a Black Coloured Jumper, why not carry the colour through the whole thing?

Because tradition...

Port and GWS easily have the worst jumper backs in the league. Port should get rid of the white number Panel and GWS should go Charcoal on their home.
What's the problem with GWS' back (except when they used to play Sydney in their red back home guernsey)
