Norm Smith Medallist
Essendons clash/"heritage" jumper will have a new club legend on it in 2016. They've had Reynolds & Coleman. Number 3 best ever is the current coach, so I can't see it being him. Bill Hutchison is the logical next option.

I think most team's supporters are fairly happy to let them decide what the team wears as their Home uniform.I'm still under the impression that all home teams should wear a predominantly dark kit, an away guernsey/home with white shorts and a white clash.
Would solve all problems.
- Geelong to wear their clash as the home guernsey
- Hawthorn to wear their away as the home guernsey
- North Melbourne to wear their clash as the home guernsey
I think most team's supporters are fairly happy to let them decide what the team wears as their Home uniform.
To tell North supporters, for instance that they need a mostly Blue jumper when they've worn mostly white for over 80 years would be the height of arrogance.
Another option would be to create a Clash policy that didn't restrict itself to Dark and Light uniforms.
They slap a sublimated signature of a different club legend on it every year. I think that's the "heritage" part.So it's just a clash jumper that they're trying to pass off as heritage? Maybe it's because it used to look slightly grey on the old tv's???
Essendon the club are not against changing their jumpers. They slap a sublimated signature of a different club legend on it every year. I think that's the "heritage" part.
They looked great against St Kilda, and I don't see why they have to be adament that it is a "heritage" jumper and not a clash, when you'd have to be blind, deaf, dumb and dead not to see what it really is.
They can clearly change their jumper, the poppy sash on ANZAC Day proves it, and makes their "it's against our constitution" argument even more puzzling.
I'm purely saying that it would make it a lot easier on the AFL if teams had a set guideline of dark-light-white.nope.
all of Norths clashs are solved, as are Geelongs and Hawthorns if the correct guernseys are worn.
no reason at all to enforce a mandatory dark home jumper.
This is seriously one of the best things I've seen on this site.View attachment 132856

Good idea. Part of the reason I didn't want them any lighter is because they become a pale pink. However adding a darker red makes me question what colour the shorts should be.Out of curiosity, could you make the rays a dark red?
Well the jumper is a part of the playing uniform or player's kit...Would love it if we tried to avoid the term 'kits', its jumper.
Kit is definitely too soccery in my opinion. Its been jumper for 150 yearsWell the jumper is a part of the playing uniform or player's kit...
nah.I'm purely saying that it would make it a lot easier on the AFL if teams had a set guideline of dark-light-white.
The jumper is a jumper or a guernsey. The shorts and socks would not be part of a "jumper". Collectively, the jumper, along with shorts and socks, comprise a kit or a uniform. If that's too "soccery" for you, maybe stray from ever using the terms "football", "footy", "kick", "mark", "goal". You wouldn't want to give people the wrong idea would youKit is definitely too soccery in my opinion. Its been jumper for 150 years
I don't particularly like using "kit", but there's no better alternative.
nah.
if clubs would get all their uniforms right (or the AFL allowed them) then there would be no issue at all.
People already hate what the AFL has done in terms of clash jumper stipulations, making mandatory dark at home, forcing three clubs into changing their traditional home jumper to something that they've used for about three years prior to this rule, there would be an uproar.
because a clash jumper has a purpose. it makes games easier to watch and distinguish teams.Well then why have away and clash jumpers at all? If they didn't use them for nearly 100 years, then why are they mandatory now? Why not just have 1 guernsey and wear team colour shorts at home and white shorts away if you're so insistent on tradition?
could not sum that up better mate!because a clash jumper has a purpose. it makes games easier to watch and distinguish teams.
you're essentially saying "let's allow everyone to have a choice in what they wear to home games.
except these three clubs."
as much as i like the North clash strip more than our home, i would hate it if we made it the home. there's so much history in our white with blue stripes jumper, why would we just throw it away.
no fan of North, Geelong or Hawthorn, except you apparently, would stand for it.
ever.
