For getting sucked into the hysteria of ONE good win against a side that was cooked !

You made the weeks build up absolute CRAP because of the incessant Freo-biased coverage.

If I hear another so-called expert call Lyon the best coach going around, now with basically a 0-4 stat, I'll heave !

So yes, yes a big FUDGE YOU for that build up !!

What can you expect from the media? Their opinions change like the wind.

Every year, there's a team who makes the 8 after 2-3 good wins, and suddenly they're a REAL chance of winning a flag (like Hawthorn in 2010 and Port this season). Then each season, the two teams who win round 1 from the bottom 4 are HUGE favourites to defeat the two sides who lost to the best teams in the competition.

Then, to top it off, the team who wins the first Preliminary final is hot favourite ..... until they see the team who wins the second prelim final ... then they change their feeble minds once more.

Just for once, I'd like to see someone in the media select a team to win the flag, and stick with them throughout the finals. It would create the illusion that they actually know what they're talking about.

Cant wait for "swan the couch" this week. Healy 0-3 with Hawks tips during the finals and Mike Sheehan with egg on his face once again. Hopefully Clarko is on the couch and gives him a clip.

R.I.P Sydney's two way running and best mid field of all time
R.I.P Kennett Curse
R.I.P Fremantle's maniac pressure

And long live the mighty hawks.....................

I think it's hilarious. We finished top, record of 19-3, had one of the hardest draws of the season, beat Sydney in the first final by 9 goals, beat Geelong in the Prelim, yet continued to get no respect at all.

Not sure why we were surprised though, most media experts (and I use that term loosely), have the memories of Dory and can only remember what happened most recently.

Just makes me laugh that very few gave us respect, very few thought we'd win...........and very few were f$%ken right!!!

Healy.."If Freo took their opportunities things could've been different"
Sheahan.."I have nothing against Lake but Mundy was clearly the Norm Smith Medallist"
Roos.."I remember last year when Sydney won..."

Haha .. They will never acknowledge we are a great side.
I have no doubt Roos and his k$&b jockey mate Healy will go on about "if Freo kicked straight, rar, rar, rar"
Fact is .. Freo choked .. Couldn't handle the pressure, Hawks exposed them

Hayden Ballantyne .. Hang your head in shame, I've seen better games at the local little league .. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke .. ;)

Pretty much. It will all be about what Freo didn't do rather than what we did do.

Be interesting to see Clarko face off with Sheehan on Monday night in regards to the West Coast thing

Absolutely agree with the premise of this thread.

The week was certainly not very enjoyable for me, due to the unbalanced media.

I fully expected that winning through to the GF, that we'd get 5 days of positive stories and hype about both clubs, and I was going to soak it up.

Instead, as of Monday night's footy shows we were dealt the following.

Yippy Hawks - they struggle to kick goals
Roughead goes missing in finals.
Franklin has gone backwards since 2008.
Mitchell will get shut out of the game.
Hawthorn's rucks can't compete with Sandilands.
Clarkson will be coaching West Coast in 2014.

I switched off for the remainder of the week.

Roos: "Looking at todays game, I think it is fair to say that Sydney went back to back. The influence they have had in ensuring that the Hawks went one step further means this isn't really a Hawthorn flag at all - but one which Sydney well and truly earnt."

I knew exactly what to expect from the pathetic media so I tuned out for most of the finals. I'm not interested in what those agenda driven egomaniacs have to say about my Hawks, they're irrelevant, and why people even listen to them I have no idea.

The media is basically full of people who have suffered humiliation at the hands of the Hawks over the past 30 or so years and want to see us fail. If it's balanced opinions you are seeking, then the football media is not the place for you.

I know of one media person who has had it in for the Hawks simply because he was stupid enough to wager heavily on Geelong in the 2008 GF. Somehow the Hawks are to blame for his own stupidity.

Most people simply have not accepted that the Hawks were the best team over the entire season, and were also the better team in the Grand Final. I'm still laughing at a comment from Eddie McGuire after we defeated Collingwood in round 21. He said, "That win sees Hawthorn move up to top position". WTF??!!! We'd been in top spot since round 8!!!!

Teams have been chasing the Hawks all season and failed to catch us. Ignorance is bliss when you're involved in the media.

You summarized my week exactly....... my expectations were the same as yours and the result the same too. Disconnected from reading or hearing any media crap for the rest of the week. To add insult to injury, the online media want you to actually pay to read some of this $hit. What the media never grasped this year is that we have a variety of game plans depending on the situation. Considering they are supposed to be insightful commentators, it demonstrates that they are just incompetent spectators that dont understand the workings of game, and the various clubs, at all. What I find strange is there is no original thought among them, they basically ALL repeat the exact same crap.

4) And my personal favourite, directed at a side who finished third on the ladder: "they could be the greatest midfield of all time"
Not sure whether ppl were around for Brisbane in the early 2000's, West Coast a few years later or Geelong after that..... and that's just in recent times
Stupidest thing I think I have ever read

There will never be another midfield than the Lions 2001-2003, they were awesome. The media really have a BigFooty mentality don't they? Because it's happening right now, it must be the "best evah!!!".

I actually loved all this media bulldust during the week. They were playing into our hands all along. We can be really grateful to them. We just went about our business unfussed.
Let them continue to spout out "what-ifs" on Freo's behalf, while our side drowns in premiership glory, and adds another cup to our huge trophy cabinet.

6 2 60!!!
