Anyone else thinking we could make some room for Luc Longley on the coaching team? Great presser for starters: Kissing Them On the Duck

Brad/Chris Scott level of tears from the Boomers last night, they lost the game with their terrible ball handling down the stretch nothing to do with the refs. Pretty embarrassing stuff.

They talked about the coaching job right at the end. Sumich has had a 10 minute conversation with Bell and Alcocks right hand man and he and his manager are waiting on the next step.
Very respectful of the process, but talked up the South Fremantle links.
Hagdorn and Hardie asked him what he would do in the trade period if he got the job.
He said Freo may be behind in the race to get Kelly, but had the resources to do so.
Also said they should get pick 5 plus more for Brad Hill.

Perhaps if he doesn’t get Head Coach he’ll be employed in some capacity. He did put a lot of emphasis when mentioning Kelly’s South Fremantle roots.

I can honestly say my thoughts on him have changed a bit. Just hate the fact that he’s on 6pr regularly.

Yeah, way to swarm all over the negative side. They had a great tournament, double overtime to a wrenching loss, he laid what he felt bare.

While you can't control the refs decision making it's absurd to say it doesn't influence the result.

I was surprised how well Suma spoke today. Loved his honesty about the Eagles/Rioli. Spoke like a real Freo guy.
Gotta admit I hate the thought of Suma coaching us and have been vocal in this respect, however I did hear him speak about Eagles/Rioli issue and insinuate that the issue would likely be bigger than just Rioli (more than 1 wce player). I have therefore changed my tune and after his comments, he can be welcomed back at freo - as the cleaner! 😁😁😁😁

Curios to listen to the audio now but cant find it, anyone have a link?

The 6pr website seems to have been made and maintained by highschoolers

Interesting choice of words. Surely if you're confident you say you WILL take the Dockers to the finals? Either way I was thoroughly impressed by Suma's radio interview, said all the right things except this.

Good media performance, now can he coach?

He can coach, there’s no doubting that, but can he coach successfully at AFL level as the main man or head coach? That’s the big query.

I don't know why but something tells me suma is the man for the job I've being thinking and I think he the man but I got faith in belly to make tha right call but suma seems like the bloke that will be firm hard on the players but give them a freedom style of footy to play he my vote anyhow

That’s the query on anyone from here isn’t it. Pyke is probably the only remotely possible guy with experience in a top job.

Having said that the fact Sumich has been outside the system for a few years and left the club in questionable circumstances has me uneasy. Having said if he wants to re-enter the AFL as an Assistant we really could do so so much worse.

I don't know why but something tells me you're Sumich or one of his relatives! 😎

Peter Sumich: I’ll take Fremantle Dockers ‘very close’ to finals in 2020
Peter Sumich believes he can get Fremantle close to making their first finals appearance since 2015 should he be appointed coach.

The West Coast great is one of a number of candidates for the job left vacant after the sacking of Ross Lyon last month, with the former Dockers and Eagles assistant coach hoping for a phone call early next week to indicate what he will have to do to get the job.

“I have had a quick chat with them (Fremantle) for about an hour and we are waiting for a phone call to say this is the next side of the process,” Sumich told 6PR today.

“I think that will happen hopefully early next week

Asked if Fremantle would make the finals next season if he was coach, Sumich said the Dockers would “go very close”.

Sumich said he was comfortable with the way things were going, having been in a similar position for the Eagles’ coaching job back in 2013.

“At the end of the day I have put my hand up, I am in the mix and if it happens, it happens,” he said.

“I understand the caper, I missed out a few years ago at West Coast thinking I had the job.

“At the end of the day you move on.

“I do not think Fremantle are in a rush with this.”

Sumich also believes the Dockers were still a chance to get homesick Geelong midfielder Tim Kelly during the trade period, despite the Eagles reportedly being in the box seat.

“They (the Eagles) probably are (favourites), but I think Fremantle have enough up their sleeve if they want to really have an assault on a South Fremantle product,” he said.

I listened to the Sumich interview on PR and re-affirmed what I already knew, he’s a long way from an eloquent and inspirational speaker.
I know that’s not necessarily the key skill of a head coach, but honestly, you have to be able to engage players, present a vision and bring people together for a common cause.

To me, he sounds a long way away from being able to do this.

Call me judgemental but I don’t want him on this basis alone
