I don't use twitter but that looks interesting.

I reckon is really effective at weaponising the idea of normality against the people who usually weaponise normality. If you live long enough you'll see politics repeatedly target fears anyway but fascism is good at the the whole "these people are a threat, give us power so we can kill them" side of that. It relies on fear of the other, or what is strange and different.

So making it strange and different is a great way to remove that power from fascism. (Small f fascism, not Fascism tho they're close.) Its power comes from its use of "othering" so when it becomes the "other" it loses that power. There's a genuine sense of rising fascism in the US (and elsewhere) these days. On lots of different levels.

This is an article by a journalist for Mother Jones discussing why Fox and their political arm, the GOP, haven't been able to do a 'crooked Hilary' on KH. I think most posters here have found the attacks on KH to be ineffective and often comical and plain stupid. Also discusses a bit about how Fox et al they frame women.

Harris has failed to find a signature issue or define herself in any way in the past four years. Not only that, she's from San Francisco, what more can you say? The USA is on the edge of the precipice.

Out of the two alternatives, yes, it's not even close.

For someone concerned about arm-waving, you seem to do a lot of it. Maybe try being less like an inflatable tube man you see at used car yards, and talk about some substance.

Trump is the one who has cosied up with and coddled authoritarians. The world isn't sure whether he's going to abandon Ukraine to the Russian regime, though given his choice of Vance as a like-minded VP nominee, this is more likely.

Trump had defined himself true, before entering the White House. An elite, silver-spoon rich kid playboy with charitably "mixed" success in the real estate world, with a history of questionable race relations, an inability to pay his bills, and sexual assault. He gave lots of money (some might say corporate/elite welfare) to rich people, and stacked the Supreme Court with pro-Corporate, anti-citizen goons. And has spent the last 4 years defining himself as a whiny, wannabe dictator since failing to win the last election and failing to fraudulently overturn his loss.

I'll stick to preferring Harris thanks.

the draft dodger is now a debate dodger

might be a nice campaign angle for a few weeks - would certainly be noticed going by how sensitive sh*t for brains has been since the rnc convention
